Big innings for Malan, given how vulnerable his place in the side is looking now

End of a poor series for Bairstow, who might be looking over his shoulder as well as Malan, with Stokes still to come into the team.

Funny old game T20. Batting has looked effortless for Roy and Rizwan but a bit of a nightmare for just about everyone else

England superior in the field, but good bowling from Pakistan.

Why are we hitting it in the air when we could have pushed for singles/twos?

Another entertaining game, silly mistakes from both sides. Will need to tighten up for the world cup though.

Those crazy skied shots towards the end almost cost us. Fantastic game

Ali and Bairstow both lost their wickets because Mallan was too busy shoving for a single to protect his wickets and left them frustrated and trying to keep the rate up...deffo dropped for Stokes next time out

Yes as exciting as that game was, overall both sides were fairly poor. The balls sticking in the pitch so let's keep advancing down the pitch and try and hit it into Wales. Emphasises how most T20 batsmen aren't all that great when the pitches aren't flat and even paced.

See, I thought Malan was the only one who played to the conditions. That to me shows why Root has to go to the World cup. Scoring at above a run a ball without having to hit 6s is what you need on a pitch like that.

Roy only hit one 6 in that innings.

I quite enjoyed that. Cut it fine but got there in the end despite a Malians Boycott impersonation

Can’t think of any scenario where I wouldn’t prefer root to Malan in a World Cup game. If the pitch is an absolute road then you can have just about anyone batting at three.

The worry going into the World Cup is that at the moment, there’s probably only Roy, Buttler, Morgan (because he’s captain), Stokes, Rashid and Archer that you would consider certain starters. And Stokes is only really because of what he’s done in other formats.

Has Livingstone given the selectors something to think about?

I think Jordan is fairly certain to start. I’d take Root over Mallan in the UAE playing spin is going to be important and Root is the best we have

After 0 0 1 and 1 Malan was due some runs. His place is under threat though.
