To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin: in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and an England batting collapse to spice up the final day of a Test match.

The tactics after we had got Pant and Sharma out was appalling . We basically wanted to knock their heads off just to appease Jimmy.
That hour has probably lost us the test match.

An England batting collapse is certain on any day of a test match!

Yep. Not sure where we go from here. We've broken Archer, probably broken Wood. Alienated Leach and Bess. Crawley has had to be taken from the firing line, but with no county game to fall back on to find form. Sibley has no idea what technique he's supposed to use and Burns has lost all form as the summer has gone on.

In fairness to Root and the bowlers. If we'd bowled them out quickly this morning, we'd have lost by now.

It would be hard to bowl her out if she's stood in front of the wicket though lbw could be an issue

good point. And Kohli did us a favour by not declaring at lunch and losing 3 overs.

I would laugh my **** off if we go off for light and it costs them after Kohli’s antics on the balcony last night.

1.) No Root has never been Captain material. His Captain in England U19s was Azeem Rafiq. He wasn't Yorkshire Captain. If he hadn't had the world's best opener and 2 best pace bowlers for his tenure it would have been much worse. Rarely have we won because of his on field tactics. If ever.

2.) Don't be daft. I'm a fan of the side and always want them to win. Papering over the cracks by surviving in a game we should have won doesn't change my opinion that this side needs rebuilding from top to bottom though.

Siraj on a hat trick after a king pair from Curran. Decent ball, but it's going across him. Would be some ball to bring that back up the slope. No footwork either.

Utterly shambolic. Disgraceful performance 2nd time round with the bat.
