I didn't put on my message but E.ON have guaranteed my current rate until the fix ends on 4th October, then the new fix kicks in on the 5th.
gets worse =france nationalise edf and freeze rates for french= they supply us and to e.u. we are paying to subsidise french consumers- nationalise is the only answer =water gas n.seaoil, transport but the tories, have all got their fingers in all the pies about time labour got it`s act together and state thats what they will do- it our water our gas aour electricity and our oil or just tell em to fck off
If labour announced tomorrow that it was going to nationalise one major player in each sector and called for a general election the public would force the Tories to have one and it would be a landslide
Whoever comes is going to mitigate the harshest rise so we’re all supposed to be grateful, when it’s really just going to be window dressing and let’s not forget prices have already doubled to where they were to where they are right now. So don’t be fooled into being thankful for whatever meagre support is now forthcoming.
Yep, I was on a fix with a smaller company until probably beyond now, company went bust so got sent to British Gas, which was a price increase. Then the price cap increased, now there's the ones to come. So yep, mine has already doubled so by the time we hit January it'll have quadrupled in what, 18 months at most? Really fear for a lot of people.
So they’ve announced the price cap this morning and ask you get on the bbc is what it means to your overall bill for a “typical” household. Do they think we are so thick we can’t have the kwh figure as well? Too complicated? Edit: just went straight to ofgem, it’s 52p for electric and 15p for gas with standing charges going up 1p per day for both.
We're in the same boat mate, we were on a fixed tariff but the company went bust so we ended up on a variable tariff with Shell Energy. Our DD was doubled a couple of months back and I expect it to double again now.
What is the purpose of Ofgem? Ofgem is the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets. Our role is to protect consumers by working to deliver a greener, fairer energy system. Doing f'ck all for the consumers then.
Taking the anger out of it it’s clear they must set the cap at a level above the cost of supply. Ask your self why shareholders and CEO of energy companies make so much profits and you might be on the right track. OFGEM are a pretty toothless organisation with regards the price.
Business rates likely even higher. If nothing is done I would expect small business to fail and unemployment to increase and vicious circle to continue.
Same thing happened to me. I was with Green Energy & I'm now with Shell. I'm lucky in that I live in a small one bedroom flat that is very well insulated & hardly use much electricity. I could see there being serious unrest come the winter, as a significant proportion of the population are simply not going to be able to afford to live.
There is no cap on business rates - and already a number of food businesses have given up due to 10x energy price increases. This is going to be a very bad winter for anyone in hospitality or leisure (first thing to be cut back).
Personally Im struggling to believe the average energy bill will 'only' be £3,549. That seems like an underestimate to me.
I'm fuming about this: 'No minister available'. I don't care (well, I do, obviously) if they've got nothing positive to share or no plans in place, they should still show their face even if it's to mutter empty words or stand there and take the abuse and look stupid if that's all they can do. We deserve someone doing the media rounds today and not have our Government hiding away in cowardice.
