This is the only positive news about this bloody infection. The clubs that are spending money they don’t have and are gambling, now have even longer to endure although I do feel sorry for the clubs that are living within their means and will find it tight.
As for the premier league, who gives a rosy *****?

Genuinely big shopping centres if crowded are probably the worst places to be along with crowded pubs or public transport

I saw a suggestion from someone I know who runs a small independant shop that now is the time to shop in your local butchers bakers corner shop etc for essentials as far fewer people will be visiting and should be less crowded, and must admit the logic seems sound. A walk to my local shops seems a really sensibe idea for me.

agree - sorting out promotions/relegations will be complex - some clubs played more matches than others etc -
my guess is we'll end up with no promotions/relegations because clubs facing being relegated will probably bring legal challenges. COYR!

Spot on we'll end up with deadlock and nobody will want the legal bill.

A guy on Channel 4 news showed last night that folk are already beginning to avoid city centres and large retail centres. It's bad for business but good that folk are acting responsibly of their own accord.

On the football front it'll be interesting to see how certain clubs survive financially during a sustained period without income. It'll certainly back up the recent report into club finances in the championship. Nailed on EFL bottle it on handing out sanctions.

Just can’t see how that works, players contracts end, transfer window missed etc.
Far easier to just cancel if the games can’t be completed before end of May.

Its saved me £33 - have a ticket for tomorrow but been battling a (normal) cough for a few weeks and am now on antibotics for it and feeling a bit below par so had today made the decision I wasnt going - if its cancelled or rearranged and I cant make it should be no problem to get a refund

The powers that be have some serious thinking to do over the next few weeks on how to bring the leagues to a conclusion.

3 quarters of the season gone so no way will they say everything is null and void and start as we were next season.

Only thing they could do in my mind is look at the last 10 games ppg average, times that by the games left. Round it up or down accordingly and add it to current points and there is your finishing total.

The only thing we can say for certain is that whatever happens with this season, somebody somewhere is going to have a right old moan about it. And whatever their gripe is, we'll never hear the last of it. They'll still be moaning about it in fifty years time. "If it hadn't have been for that pandemic..."

It may just give the EFL a get out of jail free card regarding Wensdi and Derby. Rules suspended/all sanctions rescinded owing to extenuating circumstances.

Contracts and transfer windows are administrative things that can be within the sport's control. I don't think anyone really thinks the season will resume in April, but it's been done in the hope that the Euros will be postponed or cancelled, opening up a potential window to finish the season.

Based on the last 10 games we would finish 23rd on 43 points on last 6 games we would still finish 23rd on 48 points

But I Wednesday and Derby get the 21 point deduction we would be 21st

If as expected the Euros is cancelled I guess you could have all of June to go at to clear the back log. But at a certain point and the longer it were to go on it would just seem sensible to scrap the season and go again.

The only way to avoid the court cases is to scrap the season.

I'm guessing that at the start of WW1 and WW2 the league was suspended for X years, and was left incomplete - there was some controversy after WW1 thought right? Didn't Arsenal get promoted even though they were below us or something?
