Maybe so, but I have read the phrase, they want to get some money spent, and I have read it many times.
What were your thoughts on Patrick Cryne? He went through something like 15 to 20 managers in his time. Clearly didn't have much patience. In your opinion was he unfit to run the club despite being a multimillionaire successful businessman?
Patrick Cryne knew that he did not have enough knowledge or experience to run a football club, so the first thing he did is find someone who did. Mr Cryne did not run the club from day to day, but he was there when he was needed. Looking back with hindsight, he made a lot of mistakes, and his ownership period cost him more than it should have because of those mistakes. He looked at himself as a caretaker, and if that is the point that you are intending to make, I am ahead of you. Nevertheless, he had to refinance the business at one point, because the club had overspent, and not in order to fund investment in a new west stand, a bricks and mortar tangible legacy. He made errors, and those were through lack of patience. He wanted success for the club and was prepared to fund that success. However, by the time of his death, the club was back where it started his reign, and there was no lasting sign of his additional investment. He saved my football club, and for that I will always be grateful. He made mistakes, and he picked up the tab for those mistakes.
I agree with you & thats how I like it, in fact I would be more than happy if they didn"t cover us at all . I personally read any articles on our club via the internet but I do not get all this clamour from some of our fans wanting & even demanding to know everything & anything, demanding statements etc etc , football fans by & large are not daft & ultimately its what happens on the pitch that really matters .
Joined Barnsley on the 17th july.2019 on a 2yr contract. Joined Forest on the 19th july 2021. So a question of notice period would be pointless. As one is not needed in this case.
Yes but that doesn't mean it would be a pointless question asking how we were silly enough to put out CEO on a fixed term contract that allowed him to walk out the door with no notice period at the end of it and take any sensitive information with him to a rival club or why he wasnt placed on gardening leave when it became clear his fixed term contract was expiring
I haven't altered anything I've simply tried to explain to you what my initial post was saying as you misinterpreted it as presumably me asking how long was the notice period or something?
Just a quick question myself if that's ok. @SuperTyke - do you attend any of the fan engagement or supporter group meetings held at the club?
No I don't. But I'm glad you brought those up because radio Sheffield mentioned those as well and podcasts and things. They said that 'with all due respect' blah blah blah, supporters don't ask hard questions like radio Sheffield presenters do. Supporters are scared to ask them etc. First thing I thought was 'not at Barnsley'. Patrick Cryne got a much harder grilling at the fans forums than he did by radio Sheffield and I think Paul Conway did too at one of them (or someone else since they took over).
I can answer that one YT. A simple no, cos he doesn’t trust anything they say. I invited him along to join me in a fan engagement meeting. And that was more or less the reply I got.
That’s complete and utter balls. I’m not sure if YT knows who I am on the group. But I for one do not hold back. At any meeting. be it fan engagement. Police engagement union/management meetings. Come along and witness instead of bleating.
That surprises me. Because - and no offence here - after 20 years of reading this forum and its many and previous iterations, you've always been one of its most cynical, questioning and curious posters. You are a man who (based on years of reading your posts only, as I don't know you from Adam) seeks answers and is very quick (often without thought) to chastise or lambast. A meeting such as the ones referred to would seemingly be a great platform for you. But I know things like that aren't for everyone, and posting on a forum under a pseudonym is a bit different to standing up in person. You are always welcome though, as is anyone if it's something they'd fancy.
