Can still spend, just have to put more in. So previously £6m in could have all £6m spent now would need £10m to spend £6m on players.
Correct. Equity is not affected. (Edit last part of the caveat suggests different ?) But how long are clubs directors going to put their own money in to bridge the gap.?. Which is much greater than pre the new rule. Those that spent massively in the last window. Avoided that hurdle. Another caveat. Copied. The new EFL rules restricting spending in Leagues One and Two will come into effect for the 2025/26 season. Specifically, these rules will limit the amount of owner investment that can be spent on player-related expenditure, with a percentage of any investment over £500,000 being restricted, If I read that right (I'm unclear tbh) still means less money available to spend on players of the equity put in.
I read it as only 60% of any football related income over £500k can be spent on transfer wages etc, that includes cup runs, transfers & owner injections. What will be interesting is to see what specific date it starts as the article says 25/26 season. So does that mean anything spent before the first game does not count or is it from when the window opens? We will soon know as if it’s the former there will be a flurry of early transfers.
Have to admit I'm not fully aware of how the rules work. But as accounts very rarely are released until the year after. Maybe they will result in sanctions. If found to have broke the rules ? I read it as anything over £500k from the board, a percentage can be restricted. ( But again that's gobbledygook to me) unless some money has to go on other aspects of the club. Not players. ?. The 60% being from all income I assume. Coming from every other avenue and not Equity. Equity will be allowed although restricted. Which May mean more than possibly anticipated. ? Or less if transfers are fruitful. For the board. Borrowing I imagine is going to be a thing of the past to cover losses. Birmingham I believe would not have been able to invest the sums they did during the last season. The Championship does not have the same rules. Hence they can burst the coffers again. I'm confusing missen now a little lol. But trying. Very trying some may say.
Seems to me this is all leading to the Championship being rebranded Greed League 2 - and the lower divisions being cast adrift.
Disagree, an acceptable offer is not necessarily a good offer. Someone has already said that a proven scorer and developed player around his age can’t work against his price.
