People say this but they are generally always hand me downs when a parent’s contract runs down. The parent generally gets a new phone for themselves and has no use for their ‘old’ iPhone 7 and so gives it to their kid, or they keep their own phone and get the new one for their kid on their ‘free’ upgrade. I know hardly any kids at school who have a new phone and new expensive contract just for themselves. It tends to be the parent is willing to continue paying what they originally signed up for and use the second ‘free’ phone for their child. Also, the Nokia 3330s that you quote were the new expensive phones of the time that we had back then. They weren’t old ‘Nokia 3330s’ then, they were top of the range. Oh, and the kids take way better care of their phones than my drunk mates do. They know their parents will kill them if they lose or break it and they won’t get a new one.
