    Rotten news, this, and I suspect it won't be the last of our musical heroes who falls victim to this ******* virus. Loved the Stranglers - such menace. You'd have wanted JJB on your side in a scrap anytime. First gig I ever went to, I think - Leeds Uni in '79. What an atmosphere - just stayed on the right side of it all kicking off. Remember listening secretly to John Peel when he had the first play of '5 Minutes', when I should have been asleep. Straight into Leeds that weekend to buy the 7". RIP fella.
