I blame Thatcher for just about everything, including us getting relegated from the Premier League. But this Brexit shambles threatens to do a great deal of further damage. And the party of austerity, who did so much to create the conditions that led to the leave vote in the first place, will continue to not give a damn about towns like ours. And stay in power.

You mean some people, certainly not in the numbers some would lead you to believe. It's pure arrogance to assume that people who voted for Brexit were brainwashed but all the 'clever' people who voted remain were immune from the press coverage. It's also complete arrogance to assert that anyone who doesn't follow the Corbyn bandwagon is influenced by the press. It's simply not true, not anymore. It's nothing more than a convenient and lazy excuse used to blame an institution who have nowhere near the influence they once had.

Kinnock & his son are a disgrace to the labour party.

Politics is broken at the minute, I don't disagree with you on that. We choose our leaders & place our trust...

Give me 5 policies that you so strongly feel would ruin the country please? Since I assume this is a reasoned and rational argument?

Which is the one who told us all that "it would be the easiest deal ever" ? Just for the record I Voted leave - no sh*t Sherlock I hear you cry - but I never believed that for one minute, nor did I take the bus slogan as literal.

Sorry to say, I still believe leaving WOULD have been the correct choice long term if we had had competent negotiators. As late as the past couple of weeks I have concluded that revoking Art50 will happen and probably is the only way out of the self induced mess UNLESS Barnier et al try to rub our noses in it by applying punitive measures. This attrition is what I believe has been the long term plan all along

Negotiators should have been led by people who believe leaving was correct decision, not by people who wanted to stay.
Somebody suggested to me the other week(after the first failed vote) that Mays plan was to not get a deal through Parliament and then eventually try to blame Parliament (Labour) for not being able to deliver the Public wishes.
As flawed and ridiculous as this sounds it does make you wonder.........

Ps. Bear in mind this is a person who is clearly intelligent and would on Vespas post be trusted in a different Political scenario.

Doesn' sound that ridiculous at all. Seems to be exactly what is happening. Why would anyone keep forcing a vote (another next week I believe), trying to pass the identical deal that has failed so abysmally the previous attempts?

I have not mentioned any numbers what so ever to lead you to believe anything, and as for arrogance and brainwashing to say " its complete arrogance to assert that anyone who doesn't follow the Corbyn bandwagon is influenced by the press" is rediculouse, i'll tell you what arrogance is take Jacob Rees Mogg a mp on £77,000 a year living in a £5 million house who as made £7 million as part owner of Somerset Capital Managment just after the leave vote then moved Somerset Capital Managment to Dublin as to say in the EU and yet tells us how great it will be out of the EU and what about this feller Crispin Odey of Odey Asset Managment who bank rolled the leave campaign allong with the bent Arron Banks who made a £220,000 the day after the vote do they care about the likes of you and i don't think so thats arrogance and not forgeting David Camoron he went to the USA and made £120K on giving a talk on Brexit yes Brexit him that run away from it thats arrogance.

Just out of interest, have you just asked me exactly the same question on Twitter? If not, someone has. Probably just a coincidence.

Let's not forget, Mays continued presence is purely down to the fact that she is being
told what to do, by her political "Masters" who operate totally behind the scenes.
When the time is right, like others before her, she will be told to go, her political
career in tatters, but able to take some comfort from making millions on
the back of her " Memoirs", the after dinner speaking circuit and as a part time
Advisor on the board of directors of some of Britain's better known companies.

I also don't believe about the majority of people being influenced by the press, the problem is there's a hell of a lot getting their "news" from facebook and they are definitely brainwashed (those that have a brain)

In May's case the snap election was crucial in undermining herself, since then she's had a very difficult hand to play and I would agree has not played it well.
In Corbyn's case I have seen no evidence to suggest he is incompetent, people may not like his policies or ideas but until he has chance to demonstrate them we cannot accuse him of incompetence.
In my view the fact that he is still in charge of the Labour Party, having seen off so many resignations, challenges, and rebellions, would suggest he is extremely competent in that sphere.

You said people were brainwashed and cited Brexit as an example so I pointed out what I believe to be the flaw in the theory about press influence. Numbers are relevant, if they weren't then the accusation about press influence would be completely without substance.

What you have posted about Mogg may well be true but I'm not sure what relevance it has in a debate about press influence. For the record, there is a lot that I don't particularly like about Mogg or Cameron for that matter. There is a lot that I don't like about Corbyn but my opinions about them as people would not influence my decision at the ballot box, not entirely at least.

Do you think it is only Tory MPs / those on the right and their supporters with their noses in the trough? I've got news for you if you do.

My main point is that anyone who believes that everyone who votes differently to them is wrong, thick of brainwashed is arrogant. It's part of the big problem of tribalism in this country and its prevalent everywhere. It can be healthy to listen to and understand an alternative view even if one doesn't agree with it.
