We got near on 10 million him in end and you still trying to use it as a excuse to have a dig at our late owner. Have a day off.
My eyes are painted-on, man. I've got Dennis Taylor specs and everything, and even I could see he was incredible for a kid of his age. It's disappointing that we basically gave him away.
Still won't be first choice for Man City next season I wouldn't think. Pep seemed to lose faith in him.
First time I saw him I thought he was the best youngster I'd seen come through the ranks since Mick McCarthy, but even then I didn't see him reaching the level he's at now.
I do know where you heard that , was it rumour or fact ? I do know this , that before the sale , John Stones signed a new contract with the club, which indicates to me that the relationship between the player & the club was harmonious to say the least
i asked cryne at that no.7 meeting why we let him go so cheap when we should have been looking at 10m + add ons min - and his reply was 'we (don, cryne & the board) didnt know how good he was'. So i followed it up with 'and what did your manager say when you asked his opinion (flicker) - 'he didn't seem to think he was that good', also the don was supposed to have been worried they may not come back with the offer again.... clueless - head and tail is i don't think you can believe a word of any of what was said because we all knew Flicker had tipped him for the top and the rest of the answers were PC been put on the spot. In a nutshell - another inept board performance when it came to player contracts and sales. They could drive a bargain to buy but that didn't help when it came to selling them on.
I bet we could have got a "plays in an England World Cup winning team" clause built in without too much hassle.
Yep - Patrick did a great job saving the club but after that we’ve had 10 or more years of standing still. I never understood what they were doing with players contracts. Players more or less given away. And a string of good young players loaned in and none of them signed on a permanent deal. For these reasons we find ourselves in the hole we are now - hoping that the new owners can dig us out of it.
