We know in football but he said League One clubs, so list the league one clubs losing more than us a season. We are one of the worst run clubs in the division
What League are Huddersfield in? What league are Stockport in? What league were Birmingham in? All list far more than us. We are about as mid table for losses as we are on the pitch the only club that will make money at L1 level are ones like Wrexham that do it another way. 90odd percent of football clubs lost money.
Thats 3 clubs out of the 24, Stockport lost £7m in last accounts, Birmingham won promotion and will probably be challenging for the Premier League soon, Huddersfield have been mismanaged for years. I'm guessing there's only a few clubs in League One losing £10m a season - Bolton, Charlton, Huddersfield, Brum...
To be honest I don’t care what other clubs are losing. I don’t want my club to be losing huge sums each year & I don’t want the powers that be to keep sacking managers to cover up their own shortcomings that only add to our losses. If that makes me unambitious then so be it.
The difference for me is that when we've lost money in previous years you can look at the squad and think, theres some decent players there that warrant a good wage and a few players that could be sold on for some good profit that could cover the losses. I look at this squad a barring a couple of players it's the worst squad I've seen since l started watching in the early 80s, on a par with the crap during admin - proven by one of our lowest finishes for some time.
How can we, till all the accounts are out. But even then, its not as simple as you think. So many different factors to consider. We may not lose £10m. Player sales will.offset it. But not all clubs have declared 23/24 accounts . As far as I've been bothered to search some individual teams Reading and Blackpool.appear not to have declared as yet. The average was £5m in league 1 in 22/23. Derby posted pre tax losses of £30m Not one club made a profit in the the championship the same year. Until player sales were taken into account.
Agree. We’ve stockpiled a lot of average footballers & then topped it off by adding a few less than average loanees.
Looking at the numbers going through the door, not only players but coaches as well, It appears someone at BFC has got the memo. Even the Chief of Staff according to this thread. Sadly Sormez not among them but there's also some possible player sales to come. The wage savings must be huge but lets hope any transfers in are also financially prudent..A decent start to the season will see an increase in attendance so it's up to recruitment to make that happen.
£4.3m according to the Swissramble for 22/23, this was mainly due to Derby County, as you've stated. We'll wait until they're all released and then do a comparison.
Reading. 15 million loss https://x.com/kieranmaguire/status/1919805670058086895?s=61&t=ZE1j6ndDucny8bLNCR9p9g
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cd6jqw4x6e9o just the 7 million for Stockport a league lower
Football finances across the board are just absolutely ****** and getting worse. We are no better or worse than most. I guess if we as fans lower our expectations then the club could get closer to losing less. L2 clubs lose a lot less but then again a third didn’t bring in any players for money. Blackpool https://x.com/kieranmaguire/status/1905147551000461601?s=61&t=ZE1j6ndDucny8bLNCR9p9g Last Seasons promoted clubs lost in the region of 30 million
They probably will but they'll lose millions more getting to the Premier League even if they sell out st Andrews every week. That's modern day football name some clubs that have made a profit in the championship?
I think you're going off track a bit, every man and his dog knows it a crap business and most clubs are losing money across the entire football leagues. The topic is how does Barnsley, with their small wages budget, 12k crowds lose £10m a season and how it compares to teams in their own league. We lose money virtually every season barring 2008 but now we are hitting double figures. As stated above, we'll wait to see the player sales and what the rest of League One file.
