My girlfriend lives in Australia. Admittedly, their total population is nothing near ours. But she lives in Sydney with a population of 5.23 million. There are three permanent testing stations within walking distance of her house that do not require bookings and test everyone with the mildest of symptoms and any kind of contact with someone who may have it. I don't believe in mass testing, it's a waste of money, we have wasted millions doing it, but the testing of people who are at risk of having caught it isn't. If Australia can offer that, why can't we? And if you look their numbers compared to ours.
You’re forgetting that they don’t have a world beating track and trace system. We do. Therefore we don’t need testing. Or summat. Sunlit uplands.
and you never thought of phoning me? I’d have thrown you some sandwiches over the wall. I bet you could hear me and the lad shouting when Helix’s second went in.
If you’d have put a message on here Christmas Day I guarantee you wouldn’t have gone hungry bud. Christ, I live in Doncaster and had spent four hours in hospital with my daughter (you’ll have seen the thread), but I’d have gladly plated you a dinner up and ferried it over to you (I assume you’re in barnsley somewhere?) - if you still wanted it at that time obviously, due to circumstances we didn’t eat it until turned 7pm. But I bet there’d have been half a dozen others at least who’d have sorted you some scran. Hope you’re sorted now, speak up if not.
Sympathy posts go one way or the other, it seems like we'd all have loved to help Jay. Shame he didn't ask us when we could have helped.
We're all proud, we all feel sorry for ourselves and don't act rationally, we were brought up in Barnsley in the 70s, we're the generation that has accepted every social change going, other than our own weakness. If someone helps you, you don't get to tell them how s1t it was.
We are all proud. Weve all had **** to deal with, and most of us have been through crap we wouldnt like our enemies to deal with. But sometimes, offers of kindness are not expected to be returned. Or not even in terms of trying to be the better bloke cos we can. Sometimes we offer because we want to or want to help someone we think would do the same for us. Jay, you would too, I've no doubt whatsoever, having many a chinwag with you, so dont think we want anything in return. You've even offered me help too, so, it isnt forgot pal. Pride can be a hindrance too mate. And ive plenty of experience of that as well lol
Totally understand that, and thank you again. And to everyone else. If I needed help now I'd accept it, but I don't. The world has opened back up again after Christmas, that loneliness has gone, I'm able to sort things out. What would really mean a lot to me is that when all this **** has done, when it's sunny and we're not wearing masks, when Barnsley have won, come to the No7, everybody come to the No7 it's a great pub, and let me buy you a drink, or buy me one, whichever.
I'd happily join in, I know the bloke running no.7 with the short fingers lol. Used to run my local. Hes a donny fan by the way, and deserves some grief after plastering donny shirts in my local. The tw@t lol
I spent Xmas eve, day & boxing catching up with drawing work. Nobody to see, nowhere to go. Then got a bit squiffy watching the Shane McGowan film & Barnsley matches. Hanging out with the new old Jack Russell adoptee. At 16, it’s probably our only Christmas together. Just another precious day for us..
Not preaching at anyone and understand fully what Jay says about being proud, but if past experience is anything to go by this great forum will rally round to help each other even if we slag each other off at other times. A bit like people struggling with mental health issues, it's good to talk and people will listen. Never be afraid to ask for help, you'll be surprised how much good there is out there . Oh and get in you Reds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never rains but it pours, we've all had a strange Christmas but yours takes some beating. I hope you get some grub from the kind offers on here. Is the boiler a combi? If so has it got enough pressure in the system? Has the condenser outlet frozen up? Very likely with the weather at the moment.
Had a cold shower this morning, no hot water, thought oh blimey Jays boiler trouble is catching. Went downstairs and the missis had turned it off by accident on the wall setting
Yep..would have done full Christmas dinner in takeaway boxes and dropped it at his door...shout out Jay or anyone who could do with help..good to see so many offering help on here...
Some lovely responses here. I don’t drive, so feel a bit useless living where I do. I can deal with the solitude & work ok from home. Luckily, I have Shenk to help me with the odd shopping run & stocked up before Xmas. Do feel for Jay, he’s a lovely bloke.
