Not read the details, but I don't think there was any 'proof' that he didn't commit the alleged crime, just not enough proof that he did. In the eyes of the law, that, of course, means he is innocent.

There is nothing 'good' in this entire saga.

From the CPS, the first trial, the constant leaking of the complainants name, the viciousness of the pro Evans mob, the offer of money to help the aquital,the further sigmatising of the victim in court over her alledged sexual history. Could go on..
Its rotten from start to finish.
Regardless of your stand point on the case you must be some utter odious cockwart if you are revelling in its outcome.

Not going to comment on the Ched Evans trial but everything I've just read leads me only to the conclusion that you really are a repulsive individual.

 

The attitudes of some people In this thread are truly repugnant and disgusting. I know if Evans had done anything like this to a child of mine jail would be the best place for him.

Justice can be bought by the rich in any country and we are not exempt unfortunately. The onus is on the prosecution to show someone's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt if they can't do that it makes the defendant not guilty not necessarily innocent. The scots have the more accurate '. Not proven' in law which is a more useful verdict in my opinion.

Misogyny is ugly and clearly some men on her are not really worthy of the name. You really need to have a word with yourself.

I know he's been found not guilty and all that but you can't help but wonder how one sided this retrial has been, ie top specialist legal team , reward money etc on one side and on the other err not.

So two trials and the two possible outcomes makes it 1-1 and now because he's been round not guilty womens charities are supposedly looking into trying to get another trial. Even if Ched isn't guilty he comes out of this looking very bad because of his actions and i'd never want him to play for us.

The whole of the Massey family look stupid too. Natasha has allowed herself to be a doormat by standing by him and her dad all he's done to clear his name after what he did to his daughter instead of wanting to hang him by his ball sack is crazy.

 

That's not how the legal system works.

There seems to be a lot of people who have an uneducated view that if someone's found not guilty it means they're completely innocent. I too had the same view a couple of years back.

Anyone who's done jury service will tell you that you're told that if you have any doubt at all then you have to go with not guilty.

Hypothetically the jury could all be 99% confident that Evans is a rapist but have to go with the a not guilty verdict as there's that 1% of doubt.

I've no idea on what the jury thought, I doubt anyone on here does but one thing I know for certain is a not guilty verdict doesn't prove she lied or that he's innocent. It just shows that the jury weren't 100% sure of his guilt. They could've been anything from 0% - 99% sure, we'll never know.

I've not got an opinion on the case because I've not really looked in to it.
