Manchester to Barcelona - flight 2 and a half hours, £40-£100 Manchester to NY - flight 7 and a half hours, £400 plus. Yeah no worries. Some folks have work, families, a bank balance to worry about.
Why is it? Manchester to Munich is a similar amount of time and cost as a train from Manchester to London. Plus the Champions League is all of Europe and not just us who live on the very western edge of Europe. It would be much easier for German/Italian fans to get to anywhere within Europe rather than New York. Plus New York is on the very eastern edge of the USA, what if they decided to hold it in L.A.? FIFA and UEFA should change their motto to "Serve the sponsors, fvck the fans". It's a disgusting approach which is only getting worse. I really hope top level football eats itself.
Who the fck would watch Arsenal fans on YouTube travelling? I'd suggest getting a life! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Giving this a more serious answer than it deserves. Hemsy have you done much travelling? in my work I have travelled extensively in Europe and also the USA and the far East. I can tell you there is a huge difference between a flight of a couple of hours and a timezone change of 1 hour or maybe 2, and a long haul flight crossing several timezones. In practice I dont really care as I am losing interest in most football and as the chances of Barnsley reaching a champions league final are negligable it really doesnt affect me, but for fans of the clubs likely to be there its a massive difference Also I dont see the logic in playing in New York, if you are going outside Europe it makes much more sense to go to Asia- there are huge fan bases for top European sides out there. Singapore or KL would be a much better choice. - Only a 13 hour flight so no problem really
