This season they have but it's taken them a while to stabilise themselves in the Championship. This is their 5th season back in the Championship and, prior to this season, their highest placing was 16th and they've finished 19th twice in that 5 season tenure.
I think you're right that we seemed to just accept survival as being our apex the last time we were in this league but I wonder how much of that came from the managers. I could be wrong but i don't think Hecky lacks ambition or will settle for mediocrity. I also agree that clubs like QPR wouldn't see staying in this league as a success but I really think they and some other clubs in this league have delusions of grandeur and are happy to gamble the family silver chasing the dream. I'm sure, in fact I hope, that PC wants to see us promoted but he'd rather do it without the burden of expectation.
This season will be our highest points tally and league finishing position in 17 years. Yet still people argue everything going on is "evidence of how far we've fallen in the last decade". You can't make it up.
I'm half supporting Rochdale at the minute for two reasons:- 1) I absolutely facking despise Miwwoww innit, and would hate to see that shitty club in the Championship 2) It would be better for us if Rochdale and Fleetwood were in the Championship next season.
I'm saying they are all financially better off than us, whether it be a owner, or not. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
I believe they all have a benefactor apart from Swansea. I also believe we are a bigger club than Swansea and we should look to emulate their achievements.
I'd love Bradford up just for the 20 minute journey, but I get your reasoning. Ideal if Fleetwood and Dale sneak in instead. You never know.
I got the feeling that both The Berk and his sidekick were of the opinion that just surviving was the absolute limit of our ambitions and anything above and beyond this was fanciful nonsense. I could be wrong of course, but that's how it felt to me.
