It is all driving me mad - it feels as though we are wanting them all to be true! I can live with an honest rumour but not the windups - and I’m not a damn snowflake, just sick of hearing (14 days in of 31) that GG, Stendel, Mowatt, Woodrow, Moore, Pinnock, Cavaré, Thiam are all leaving! To balance it (& do my own head in), I heard someone mention other possibilities- leaving May be Davies, Lindsey, Williams (all of them), Dougall, MacGeehan, Brown and Bähre are all joining Potts (remember him?) at Preston! You heard it here 1st
I think the challenge, which I agree with, is the made up Twitter rumours from fake accounts being shared on here as if they’re gospel with no credit to the source. The GG link to Nice was valid as it had a credible source. Your story about Mowatt had a link and an article (although wasn’t about Mowatt leaving at all so a bit deceiving), where as others haven’t. I think you got the wrong end of the stick on this one.
Despite being one of those neanderthals who doesn't like matchday threads perhaps this is an area in which a single thread would resolve the issue with the minimum of fuss. Any rumours without sources could be posted there and those who were interested in them could read them without them doing everyone else's nut in. It'd work better if people followed the convention voluntarily but I think if an appeal to posters' better judgement didn't work it'd be perfectly reasonable for site admin to merge any other such threads, as if they didn't have anything better to do. I appreciate there are some posters on here whose information is usually reliable but for one reason or another can't name their sources but for every one of those there are plenty of others who just make stuff up because they're bored.
The club have really tightened up mate. My mare still works at the club, I quiz him every time we go out and I cannot get anything out of him, even things like injuries etc he just won't budge. Dunno if it's the new management or a bollocking issued by those higher up. Not a bad thing though, I posted too much at times. I was wrong to do so.
Disagree Imo people hear rumours from friends family etc and post on football forums etc to see if theirs any currency in said rumours . Some might have a bit more info or have info to dispel the rumour . Whatever the reason people want to discuss admittedly some go over the top and have an aneurysm or slate club for all it’s worth before anything is confirmed as being remotely true etc . But it’s a football forum for football fans to discuss their football team, players , other football clubs and players , holiday/travel info, Brexit , tell jokes , music or whatever anyone wants to engage in within the rules of the administrators. I respect people getting fed up of all the hard work of opening a thread and finding its not what they thought it was or or disagree with but at same time I think hard lines but I’m sure you’ll find something interesting among the many diverse threads that make this board tick imo.
I agree with that to a degree but to completely fabricate something and then admit you've done it because you're "bored" is a little pathetic wouldn't you agree? All for rumours whether from friends or papers but not ***** like what DT posted last night.
Well tbh I took it as I take most of his posts tbh which is not seriously I wouldn’t open a DT post for the latest news on BFC. I know the frustrations and everything but there’s certain posters I would disqualify straight away and ignore in favour of other posts . YN is a case in point for every fifty posts one is usually in line with most posters but it doesn’t mean imo he shouldn’t have posted those other forty nine choose how out of touch they were as long as they were in admins rules of course . However I’m not on a campaign it’s only my view but if they post crap like DT I either ignore or jump on him , but he’ll not stop choose what we do .
I think it's generally disturbing that there's an increasing number of people who just read stuff on the internet and don't question it. My girlfriend's daughter is 17 and fairly smart but was quoting some ridiculous story and claimed it had to be true the other day because it had been quoted on a dubious "news" site. She had no concept of the relative veracity of sources or whether those sources had checked their data or just cut and pasted from another site. What people are prepared to take as gospel and run with these days is scary. Hence you get completely unfounded nonsense that doesn't bear the slightest scrutiny being posted..including on here. And I'm not having a go at Marlon's Mowatt post here but there are a few who just post any old tripe.
Don’t disagree with that for one moment CR , there’s an old saying that evil thrives when good people do nothing and that is very true . But I’m replying on the context of DT plus one or two others on transfer rumours which tbh I didn’t even open DTs post till the controversy on here because of his past record it meant very little . On my Mowatt thread I was looking through sky’s sports news and came across it but I did post it as it was, not out of context imo . As I said it’s only my view and I’m often wrong as I’m always informed domestically so nothing new there .
Don’t doubt yourself mate. Your post was titled ‘Leeds urged to look at Mowatt’ and was based on an article. I think the other post said ‘Mowatt to Leeds’ which was slightly misleading. Either way both were backed up with a link to an article. There’s nothing wrong with that at all
I'm actually really pleased that I can educate myself by reading "stuff on the internet". How else would I have realised that I need to buy a Brexit Box?
I got one of those this morning . In it were a Cup of Coffee, egg and bacon sarny a pot of porridge and a slice of toast and marmalade .
I think it was delivered to wrong house I just signed N Farage . He dint say owt just looked at me n put his pencil back over his ear
I bought a Christmas Survival Box on Christmas Eve last year. I thought it was important, as the shops are shut for 36 hours, so there was a real danger that I would starve. In the box there were 11 loaves of bread, 14 litres of milk, a box of After Eights and 5 bags of sugar. As it happened I didn't need it, but better safe than sorry.
36 hours could be the difference between life and death , imagine running out of milk Christmas Day !! It don’t bear thinking about . On the Brexit box just had a look and it’s breakfast box I got and I’ve just seen neighbour going through my bin for evidence . Good job I ent thrown it out yet . I’ll put it in his bin tonight that’ll confuse the gem out of him in morning .
