One of the last times i can remember watching it was the infamous Mick Fleetwood/ Sam Fox debacle. Also memember it being one of tha last times Queen were seen together as a 4 piece and recieved a lifetime achievement award.
Not much of a memorable show but better than a lot of recent years. Feel for Joel Corry being up for three awards and not winning one. He went from a bit part in Geordie Shore as then long term boyfriend of a cast member, to last year having a couple of the biggest sellers of the year. Taylor Swift could have done some singing instead of just preaching to the viewers in her speech. I thought Foo Fighters would have got best band if just for raising cash during covid by letting Times Like These be a charity single. Some good performances in there like Coldplay, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa and then the Rory and Alicia duet that finished the night.
Suitcase full of singles.? That one, Amarrilo & Avenues. Think my Dad knew Tony. But Colin seemed to know everyone. Great pals with Barry Hines, of course. I remember trying to sleep & asking Mam where my Dad was? He’s working nights. He’d been in the lash with Joe Cocker in Sheffield. Dad would come home with free records. Remember the old major/minor label from the 70s? Lots of those. Rick Savage worked under my Dad at Stocksbridge. Left when Def Leppard took off.
One or two musical highlights for me. The Weekend who I'd never heard of. And the finale. Rag n bone man/Pink/NHS choir. Loved both of the songs. Griff and Haim. I will Probably have a coat of looking at. Most of the other stuff was not to my taste. But hey I'm 64. The young uns obviously like it. That's what matters. Heard Pink was performing so sat through the lot. Waiting. . She, may I say, is an absolute class artiste.
