Fair point, great chance of Sky getting their filthy hands on it.

I'll steal your car on Friday, park it at mine in BD16.
LEAVE YOUR PHONE IN THE CAR.
Saturday morning, express concern that you left your phone in the car. Ask family to do a 'find my phone'.
Express concern but pleasant surprise that the car can be easily collected.
Come to mine, hand over £200 and get yourself down the 650 to VP.

    £225 includes full valet.

    Money laundering services also available.

    To put this in context...

I had a ticket for the promotion match v Bradford. Only to find, to my horror, that my then girlfriend (soon to be - and still is my wife) had arranged a surprise weekend away with friends (non of which have any inclination towards football).

I quietly sobbed as I returned my ticket to the box office - selling it to a kid who was trying in vain to see if there were any tickets left.

On my deathbed I'm going to explain the depths of my commitment...

I'd have gone to the match in that case and reiterated the need to run things by your future spouse before booking them!

Can you not tell your family that you got the locations mixed up and you only agreed to visit as you thought you were driving them to Bradford and not Bournemouth? Happy to help :D

Arrange yourself to be hypnotised so that you think the fixture is moved and that we win convincingly.
Go ahead with your other commitment so everybody is happy

Actually I just checked my memory of this with AI and it didn't happen.

    Barnsley Spurs snow 1999
    AI Overview
There was no Spurs and Barnsley snow incident in 1999; the snow event you're likely thinking of was an FA Cup match in 1996 between Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, not Barnsley, that was abandoned due to heavy snow.

It's only a 550 mile round trip. 4hrs 45mim Bournemouth to Bradford, 2 hours for the game, 4hrs 45min back. It's only 11hrs 30mins total. You'll never be missed . Seriously though, Barnsley fans will forgive and forget. Family won't.

    I feel your pain lol
Many Many moons ago in a different life time, the day when I married my first wife Barnsley were away at Blackpool. In them days I was going home and away to games and had really wanted to go to this game.
The previous year I'd agreed to get married on the particular day in question as it was also her birthday and that's what she wanted for her special day. To be married on her birth date
Fast forward 10 years into the future and i realised it would have been a hell of a lot cheaper, to have gone to the game than what it cost me in a divorce settlement lol

When we made our first appearance at Wembley in May 2000, my wife was ~38 weeks pregnant and I really wanted to go. When it came down to it, I realised that if I went to the game, I'd just be sitting down and would get an announcement telling me that she'd gone into labour and I had to return home post haste...

As it turns out, the grand opening was 12 days later so I could have gone!:eek:

Ok, I have a potential solution but it will involve two lots of expensive, experimental plastic surgery. You just need to find someone of a similar build, and then find a surgeon willing to give you a face swap. Just make sure that the other guy isn't a terrorist and you'll probably be fine. I'm sure your wife and family won't notice!

Once the game is over, you can arrange for a reversal when its convenient for both of you...

That's a bit different to a regular league match. I'm pretty sure I'd have tactfully explained the magnitude of the situation, and whether it had been taken on board or not, gone to the match. There are plenty of weekends away with friends, but Barnsley getting promoted to the Premier League? That really is once in a lifetime stuff.

Not a dilemma mate really, it’s family first for me and this is why. I missed yesterday’s game as Wife and I had booked for the weekend in York prior to fixtures being released, but I’d already decided that was irrelevant as We were going. During Saturday morning wife says, hey Barnsley are at home today why didn’t you say? I said because I wanted us to have this weekend together ( Brownie points going through the roof already) Then she said ‘ well Barnsley’s not far away why don’t you nip back for the match and meet back at the hotel after ( Travel Lodge, we’re not that posh) Now this set the cogs in my head turning rapidly. I replied ‘ No, we’re both looking forward to this weekend away, it’s only 1 game. She said oh ok , but I really wouldn’t have minded. Now you may well be saying, you should’ve gone to the match, but think about this, it could’ve meant leaving my credit card, and the ammunition I would’ve provided for potential future ‘disputes’ would’ve been unbearable. You Reds

Realistically it would be the last sesh of my life if I did that (and quite possibly the last weekend of my life full stop!)
