My granddaughter fell in love with Brad. I think she had a little bit of a crush on him If im honest. She was 8 at the time and was eager to go to the game in fact she couldn't wait for the next game to come around, she even chose the goal keeper shirt when asked which shirt she wanted. I was so made up, happy that finally one of the grand kids were interested in going with me to the game and hopefully develop a love in for Barnsley Then he left, and she got so upset, her little world fell apart, when I broke the news to her, Bless. yes there were tears, some of them mine, to be honest, partially seeing her upset and then knowing what followed Yes she's refused to go again and has done so ever since, No matter how many times I've asked her. Not only that at one time she would come and sit with me and we would watch a game on the tv, no matter who was on Even that stopped when Brad left. Arr well ( big sigh ) we can only wish, that, hopefully, one day she changes her mind and one sad grandpa, grumpy or grumps as I'm affectionately known as, will have a smile on his face
During Covid Brad sent a video message to my son wishing him well and thanking him for his support when unwell and unable to get to Oakwell. He was made up with that but was quality on his part and Beth at the club who sorted it. Then when Isted was here my son got selected to be a player for the day in the junior takeover - he got chatting to Harry in the dressing room & walked out with him before the game and following the game Harry sent him his shirt in the post, my son follows both their careers and has got that same admiration for Isted even still though unfortunately right now his career isn’t really progressing how he would like but we saw him after the game at Oakwell and he even recognised my son and called him by name. He was made up. Funny old world is football.
There’s some very good goalkeepers in our league and should be playing at a better level. Collins is now one of them. Fortunately, we have one as well.
