2-2, great play from Grabban. Weak from the keeper. And fair play to the ref for not giving a fk, you usually see them given but nothing wrong there at all.
Forest should have had a penalty. Howson deliberately deflected the ball over the bar with his arm from a Forest corner. Absolutely blatant.
Switched on for last 20 Forest were all over then boro looked bad as @Donny Red says nailed on pen having said that the equaliser could easily have been given as a foul
In my humble opinion, it's no good fretting about what might have been.Unfortunately, after the opening game of the season, the lads struggled to get up to the required quality needed in the Championship. Our Coach insisted on starting defenders every single game who appeared low on confidence and were prone to making basic errors that often than not, cost us goals and ultimately points. Ally those shortcomings to our failure to take points off the teams who like ourselves were/are in and around the drop zone and it's not difficult to work out why we are in the position we now find ourselves in. We are currently on thirty four points with ten games left, re- another thirty points. Popular " guesstimates" have fifty points as the minimum for safety. That means we have to gather sixteen more points from the thirty on offer. My heart says it's possible, but having hitherto only got thirty four points from thirty six games, I am not holding out much hope of achieving our target. Hope I' m wrong, but it really is a big ask. We looked to have run out of "Gas " against Reading on Saturday and unfortunately ,can't rest key players, because we don't have players of equal quality on the bench who can come in and cover for those who need to boost their stamina levels.
It's not as big an ask as you think. We only got 9 points from the first 18 games, so our most recent form is 25 points from the last 18 games. That would be worth around 14 points if we were to continue in that vein for the last 10 games.
Fair point but we might still fall short if we could replicate that form. We probably are not expected to get anything against Cardiff ( home) this Saturday. They are one of our bogey teams. Ditto Leeds ( away), Forest ( home) and Brentford ( away).? That leaves QPR, Stoke and Luton ( away) and Millwall, Blackburn and Wigan ( home) still to play. We didn't exactly cover ourselves in glory losing 1-3 at home to Luton and 2-4 at home to Stoke, so it will take a monumental effort to get anything from them in the return games plus QPR rarely give us anything at their ground. As I have said previously, nothing would please me more than if we were able to pull it off, but for me, the realism is, that we have probably just given ourselves a wee bit more to do especially as our goal difference (-18) is inferior to our competitors, apart from Luton Town (-28) of course.
I agree we do not have the quality to rotate the squad too much but it would have been easy to lose discipline and go down meekly when we have been in the drop zone for so long. Honestly it will be tough but the impact on other teams if we get to 40 points from 40 games will be felt. Middlesbrough and Hull were both Premier clubs in recent times and Lord knows how much Stoke have spent to be just 5 points ahead of us. There will be more setbacks to come but the application belief and skill is there to give us a fighting chance.
