Sorry but the numbers aren’t that simple. an obese 40 yr old suffering from diabetes then dying of a heart attack at 50 is much less of a ‘drain’ on the health and social care sector than someone who is relatively healthy, retires for a happy 20 years and then spends 10 years slowly slipping away from dementia. obviously it’s better for our own sake to look after ourselves, and to live as long and happy life as possible, but it’s not necessarily the cheapest option for society.
Have you got a link to those figures? This is an interesting article https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/20...ovid-19-can-take-months-survivors-fully-heal/
But Boris hasnt really recovered yet has he - he spent 3 days in ICU needing oxygen but not ventilation then recovered enough to be moved to a normal ward, a few days later he was sent home to complete his recovery - I dont have any figures but I guess that is not unusual - once out of ICU I expect hospitals want to get recovering patients out of hospital as fast as possible I think Boris has so far been ill for around 18 days so he will probably be properly recovered inside the range you quote or do I miss something As for the conspiracy theorists I dont believe this is fabricated and I am sure he really has been seriously ill - usually politicians cover up being ill not invent it
If I lived with a person who didn't believe the PM had been ill enough to been in ICU etc. I'd worry about that person and I'd worry about myself!
Politically it's been great for him to have it. It's shifted the story from the fact that we've had more deaths per day than any other country. Remember when Italy were at 800+ deaths per day and we were getting reports about the horrific conditions on wards etc.? We've had none of that recently - Boris first and then the deaths are largely a dehumanised statistic. So it's been convenient timing, but I think that's likely to be a coincidence. As Jay says if it ever came out it'd ruin him. Plus things didn't strike me as fake - Raab looking like a panicked rabbit in headlines and being evasive about when he spoke to Boris etc. would have to have been very well stage managed. I'm certain he had it, politically it's just a very convenient coincidence that it happened when it did.
Oh I’m sure he had it, but he has implied he nearly died, sorry but if his lungs were so bad that he had needed oxygen - and probably would have pneumonia- I simply don’t believe he’s able to go Home a few days later.
The simple way to do this (and perhaps cost effectively) would be to promote this in schools/NHS and stump up the cash for it.......remind me again the tories record in recent years regarding both teachers and the NHS
You are perfectly entitled to believe the official story, all I’m saying is that it seems to me if you are in ICU for covid-19 the chances of you being at home and apparently talking normally in a few days are tiny, people spend weeks after the peak of their illness wiped out. I’m not saying he didn’t have it, I’m questioning his version of events - “touch and go”.
it it's been neither 'convenient' nor 'great' for him to have had CV. And the story hasn't shifted form the daily number of deaths to the PM's health. Every news bulletin programme ahs referenced the number of deaths.
How do you know that people with it spend weeks wiped out? I don't know anyone who has had it and been in hospital, how many do you know?
Personally I'm sure it hasn't. But politically it has. That's my point. We get the numbers but very little of the detail or the human stories.
I know people who’ve had it and never got bad enough to go to hospital but can’t walk to the end of the street a week since they had it peak.
I think it's fair to say we're on the same page with regard to many aspects of the Covid-19 debate. But I do think you've got this one wrong. Doesn't mean you have, but I'd put the probability of you calling this one wrong particularly high. I've used the following equation to assess it Benefits of telling this lie - (chances you're found out * detrimental effect of being found out) If that was a positive number I'm sure they'd do it. But it isn't, it's a big negative number.
The spouse - a nurse who was treating covid19 patients - became ill 11 days ago. She has hardly moved at all until today. She has had the whole plethora of the normal symptoms - fever, painful lungs, cough, no energy etc. plus sickness and diarohea too. Never been so bad. Others may well have called for an ambulance. There's a definite improvement today - hopefully this will continue. If it does, there's a big difference between convalescing at home, and actually doing anything constructive, never mind working. I'm not sure however that belittling what may well have happened to someone who gets a big dose of this thing is the right thing to do. I bet Boris was well and truly scared.
My own interpretation of "touch and go" is that having reached the stage where he needed to receive oxygen in the ICU, the illness could have gone in two directions from that point. Either an improvement and return to the ward or a deterioration and heading for a ventilator. Fortunately it was a change for the better. Not sure why some people are trying to pick holes in Johnson's narrative on this one. It's distasteful.
It’s not mate. It’s a fully functioning large flat which is las the enough to house a very large family. I know this because one of my mates has been the PMs close protection officer for the last 5 years. He’s now with Patel but before that he was the main bodyguard for May and Cameron.
