Think I’m right in saying he’s the most fouled player in the Premier league , putting him on with one minute of extra time left ( bizarrely wasting time to help the French) was an act of gross stupidity by Southgate and showed he’d lost the plot
I'm not a great Mount fan tbh, but Sterling has never let us down...what others would you have suggested?
Grealish the obvious one , Gallagher , Wilson , decent crosses of the ball Trent Alexander Arnold even Trippier
Similarly I don't know why Saka was so rated and always picked; though to be fair to him, he has come from behind the settee in the the last few England matches
Yeah Walker offers nothing going forward. I'd have rather had the distribution of Trent Alexander or Trippier.
Saka I thought was excellent against France. Most dangerous player on the pitch. He covinced me over the tournament that he has real quality. Grealish though, doesn't seem to actually go past players but seems to constantly look to draw a free kick. I could genuinely be being unfair to him but I've seen nothing to show me he's the world class player he's supposed to be.
Grealish fair enough...I like Trippier but he was awful in the games he started...Gallagher & Wison are unproven at this level and Alex Arnold has done little in the 18 caps he's had except against Albania.
England are the best team in the world. Only on paper, not the pitch. Don’t tell Mrs C, but I’d like to see Messi lift the World Cup.
Putting Grealish on to play on the right of a midfield 3 would've seen us get crucified on the counter. Mount also won the second penalty. Not sure about all this talk about us sitting back at 1-1. Thought we played well in spells, but when France had a good spell, they scored the second. The Sterling substitution was a strange one, both bringing Saka off, and not bring Rashford on if he is making the change. But I don't think it really made much difference. The penalty miss killed us.
I’d of replaced Foden with Rashford earlier and had him and Saka hitting them from both sides with real pace. That’s not a reflection on Foden just that Saka highlighted how vulnerable they were with pace.
He’s obviously good but he’s definitely over rated. What tends to happen when someone doesn’t play for a top 6 side is they get over rated because everyone likes them & then they join a top 6 side & rival fans tend to go off them. It happened with Grealish & it’ll happen with Maddison. It’s the reason people wanted call ups for players like Drinkwater & Noble. You get people posting stats showing goals & assists & they don’t mention that players like Grealish & Maddison get teams built round them lower down the league & often take set pieces. Players like Foden are in a team of superstars & never get near a set piece.
So it’s taken a week or so for southgate to confirm he’s staying on. Yeah right. A really sweet gig and the media sucking his Dick for getting knocked out of the World Cup by the first decent team they faced? Oh, I bet it took a week all right.
