Barnsley Women’s team ‘scrapped’

True.

Barnsley Women’s FC was nothing to do with Barnsley FC. Some years ago they convinced 90% of the Barnsley FC Ladies players to go there. They were going to get paid. They were building a stadium. They’d be the premiere women’s club in Yorkshire. Etc.

What was left of the BFC Ladies (mainly young lasses) became simply Barnsley FC two years ago. Or Barnsley FC Women to make it clear. Under the club’s umbrella. They even lured a few Barnsley Women’s players across. And others’ decent players, because of the facilities and prestige - I guess - of playing for a proper football club.

Disappointing, what’s happened.

But at least Barnsley Women’s FC is still there. Albeit not in Barnsley in a brand new purpose built stadium.

Surely, it wouldn’t have hurt either Barnsley FC and Barnsley Women’s FC to have come together again somehow, for the greater good.

 

I was in the meetings when Barnsley FC approached Barnsley Ladies & Juniors FC. I was a coach / manager, ( 2014 i believe).
In 2018 the people who run Barnsley Women took over us, promising the earth. They lasted 2 year then walked out to form their current team.
Trying to tell people they are the original team, hahaha

 

Full of **** were those 2 who made the promises.

Love to know how much money they took out of Ladies to set up Women...
