Did you read the full post? Think people are being oversensitive to use a word like xenophobe, which seems to be the forum buzzword. When Darren Fletcher was in midfield for Man United, he was pretty average and in my opinion below the standard of the rest of the team.... I would have said he was the 'token Jock' under Ferguson.... is that a problem too?
Shall I ask you to check my draft before posting in future? Just to make sure it's just as you want it?
Yes! Because the whole concept of ‘tokenism’ is used by xenophobes and racists. It’s a fairly obvious situation when viewed from a non xenophobic standpoint.
Mine ... nothing. Not sure what relevance of your comment was about a token German when the manager is Austrian
Stendel signed him.... Not good enough... Hence. Too many oversensitive people making a mountain out of a molehill.
Do you think that A. Stendel signed him because he thought he was a good player who he had knowledge of? Or B. Stendel signed him as a token German?
Don’t know what JPH77 has said wrong really......talk about folk getting there britchers in a twist is a understatement
My comments are generally banter with a bit of wind-up and the odd throw away comment. I'm certainly not a xenophobe or racist. I actually really like Germany, it's products and it's people. I toured the country and went to every England match in the 2006 World Cup and have since returned for 3 stag dos, mine included.
Asked a question why the point is now relevant ... not a case of being sensitive. Could understand its relevance if our coach was German and was still being picked
If Strubers English was as poor as Stendel’s then there might be a case for it being a communication issue. But Struber has pretty good English. IMHO The unknown for us fans (and this goes both ways) is players work rate and attitude in training and around the club generally. so we judge players on a completely different evidence base to the coach. We only see them on the pitch, and that view is coloured by tactics and by our own unconscious bias. The first team coach has a much more balanced view. not saying he can’t be wrong too btw - just that his view is different.
I dont think bahre has enough physical presence to play in central midfield, he needs to be in the attacking midfield position...... Problem is when he plays there he goes missing for large periods of the game
