Bosman Rule and freedom of contract means that players at teams like Barnsley are either sold if they're any good or released if they're not so good. The likes of Spud Murphy would have left the club at the end of their contract but in Spud's time the club held all the aces. No-one is going to get a new contract unless they're still a valuable asset but the quandary for the player is that if he is a valuable asset, he can get better money elsewhere. Hence Barnsley is not likely to see anyone play for the club for more than 3 or 4 years max. (e.g Mowatt)
Blanes? Went there a few years ago, the most unfriendly Spanish town I have ever visited. Went to get on the tourist train (tractor), with the kids. Driver waited till we got up to the doors, then drove off knowing full well we were there. He was one of the friendlier ones!
Looks opaque to me that the club seem to separately employ Dane Murphy and Melissa Terry as employees but then there is the D&M Football Consulting entity mentioned as well. Does this mean we are paying the same people twice for the same work? Does this mean our CEO is offering his services to other football clubs (our competitors)? Is it so they can charge a consulting agency rather than taking a salary to avoid tax? And how exactly does Melissa Terry's role differ from what Bobby Hassell does? These are all questions for Dane tonight @Gally
Looking at Dane's doesn't fill me with confidence. Taking on our CEO role after only 18 months experience as a Technical Director in the States is a huge leap and isn't going to prepare him for things like fan engagement and experience or sorting the road closures with the Council.
