Agreed. I listened to both on iFollow today, which led me to check out their backgrounds on LinkedIn.
Jobs for the boy & girl Not impressed with this pair running the show for Barnsley FC in the English leagues tbh, not in the slightest. Danes latest interview told me all I need to know sadly. Very poor.
Both Spud and Ronnie still living in the area as is Bruce Dyer. I suspect most of the current crop are living in Leeds and commute in.
In a nutshell, she said in the video she oversees the academy and in effect takes the non footballing aside away from Devaney so he can concentrate on that. It didn’t come across to me as she was his boss either.
"Over a decade experience in collegiate and professional sports specializing in player management, performance enhancement, recovery and regeneration strategies, return to play and developing annual tactical periodization models." Perhaps she needs to have a word with the first team and instill some performance enhancement, and I really really want to see what annual tactical periodization model she has developed.
I remember there being talk on here when Dane came over that his wife was getting a job due to visa issues. I didn’t realise that she’s an accomplished football person herself, so that’s a bonus, if that’s who she is. I thought she’d got a job purely so we could get Dane (which I was also ok with, to be honest.)
In fact nearly all the players we’ve got are young lads on their first moves signing long term contracts . I notice you only mentioned players from old in the non mercenary category, Hassell and Devaney are still local and work at the club , Redfern had more clubs than a seal cull before coming to us but they were referred to as Journeymen in those days , not greedy mercenaries
Do you not suspect that lads being brought in in very recent times are eyeing the next hopefully lucrative move rather than developing any attachment to the club? (As most of the names mentioned did.) Partially the victim of our own success with the likes of Stones, Holgate, Mawson, Hourihane, etc, but it's hard to deny it is affecting the character of our club and the affinity the supporters are able to develop for the current set of players
There are few players that play for a club longer than 2 seasons 3 max that’s always been since players got freedom of contract . Affection for players and owners of a club is generally dependant on how well they are doing on the pitch , if we were in a play off spot we’d all be singing Dixie and celebrating Chinese New Year
I'd be very disappointed if their career ambitions were to play for Barnsley FC their whole career. Every signing we make should be thinking about how they better their career by giving their all to us, either to reach a higher level with us, or to do such a good job for us that a bigger team comes in. You call that being a mercenary. I call it having ambition.
