    The Labour leadership election, overrun by Momentum. Current favourite, the renowned raving Communist, Sir Keir Starmer. Have I missed something?

    This is actually a good point. I often read lots of people on the left insulting him or referring to him with contempt and I've never really understood the negativity he seems to attract. Maybe it is just a small minority but it is noticeable.

    Here we go again, anyone slightly left wing is a communist.

    Keir Starmer has absolutely zero evidence against him that he has ever been a communist. He has lots of evidence to show he is a highly intelligent, former Barrister who is far more to the centre of the political spectrum than Jeremy Corbyn was. I’d even question whether he is a fully fledged socialist let alone a communist.

    No didn't he vote to bomb Libya and Syria? Ex military are too keen to send the troops in. I think he is doing okay as a Constituency MP though. Better him than a fascist.

    Ha. Bit of sarcasm not picked up. Think we're on the same page, I was trying to ask how can Labour be overrun by hardcore Trotskyists from Momentum if he's the runaway favourite to be the new leader?

    I'm not sure if he wants to be the Mayor of the Yorkshire region...but it was important, regardless of party politics, that someone outside Sheffield took the South Yorkshire job.

    Right on the money. Can't remember what its called but there's a system of government where people from all walks of life are required to do service in government (a bit like Jury Service). Might be worth a go.

    Problem is they’ll have to be honest and make decisions that are best for most instead of a relatively few elite rich people. Murdoch et el would never allow it
