I don't disagree. All I was saying was, that no payments had been defaulted. So all debts were being serviced, until the owner just decided to not bother.
What I’m hearing is that they are not against the points per se as they weren’t going to appeal if they had been inflicted next season . So on that basis they are not denying the rules should apply but when and citing Covid for the extension of the season If not for the extension the points would have been applied next season . I think that’s a flimsy argument as they agreed to a return or at least abided by the majority decision to continue the season . So imo the odds are compared to (what they could r won ) against what they will lose are as what you say but the likelihood of winning monies they could get with losing money they really can’t afford is irresponsible , immoral and unjustified imo .
As long as the deduction still stands next season then I wouldn’t have a problem with that but I Think the Tranmere fans would be in meltdown
a question of odds, expectation and statistics, a poker players dream! if the 500k gamble produces an expectation (win) greater than the odds offered you should absolute take the plunge.
If it's only got a 1 in 20 chance of coming off you would never get a lawyer advising you that litigation is justifiable .
I really shouldn't be quibbling about matters of chance, after what the odds of our stopping in this division must have looked like after 90 minutes against Forest.
Sorry but that's nonsense. If what you stand to gain is >20x the cost then it is effectively a positive gamble - run the hypothetical situation a million times and you end up in overall profit (i.e. the exercise has a positive expected value). Setting aside the commercial context, that is clearly justifiable. Whether or not to proceed would depend on commercial considerations, such as how affordable the costs are to the company in question and whether they can afford to punt it (or if the company is going under unless it wins then it might be forced to punt it). These commercial considerations are for the client to weigh up and make a decision on how to proceed.
True, but their owner cited COVID as a reason for Admin. The EFL seemed to laugh it out of the 'room'. But I'm thinking they will defiantly be worse off than no COVID and the uncertainty of when the revenue taps comes back on is another factor,
People saying they have ‘zero chance’ are absolute fools, of course they have some chance even if you think it’s an extremely long shot.
We're talking about a one off situation here. The premise is "spend half a million and you've got a 1 in 20 chance of winning". You haven't got the option of doing it time after time.
I have'n't the slightest doubt that Wigan are going down. We have to wait until next Friday to have it confirmed - but it will be. Chef Tyke posted something early on Thursday morning which summarised the situation very well. The Reds will be playing in the Championship next season.
The efl should confirm our position and any successful appeal result in a 25 team champ/23 team league one (again) crazy how a decision on this is now looking like mid to late august
