Unfortunately, a lot of charging points are in dark places without a coffee shop on site. Many women wouldn’t want to sit in somewhere alone either, it seems to be an open invitation for someone to come and save you by sitting next to you and trying to make conversation. How many times have you been somewhere alone and had someone come and sit next to you at your table despite there being empty tables everywhere and start asking you personal questions and telling you to smile? I’m going to guess potentially never but no more than a handful of times at most. I go places alone quite often and will eat a meal alone quite happily so I’ve attracted a lot of these people and it wears thin very quickly, varying from mildly annoying to downright scary.
Getting nearly 300 miles out of it with the warmer weather, over 4.0 per kWh, in winter l was getting between 2-3. A difference of 100 miles in range. Fine getting down, it's whether or not to try and top back up to 100 so l don't have to stop on the way home. Maybe the way home will be better, one set of fans will be setting off an hour earlier
Going up to see the family in Scotland, we stop at Gretna, get the kids a burger king by the time they've eaten it, it's fully charged. Nothing extra on the journey because we would have stopped there in a petrol car for food anyway.
That's only problem with mine. Range 240 miles tops. In winter as low as 170 miles. Still not really an issue as I rarely go above 80 miles a day, which is about how much range I get from an overnight charge. But would be good to have more range for the longer trips I do.
I'll bet it does. I am not suggesting the safety consideration is not more of a issue for women. I get it. It's why the old 'charger at the back of the car park' has to be consigned to the dustbin of history. But it is getting there. I never stop at the single unit places anyway, not for safety reasons but just because you are much more likely to need to wait, or find it knackered. Only the big hubs with facilities for me. At least 4-6 units. Lots of petrol stations are building them - MFG sites in particular. The trick is to not think in petrol terms, i.e. get to the fumes and then look for a garage. Charge when you can, at a place you want to, not when you need to. Then it works.
Creature of habit me - pit stop and a coffee every 2 hours. I'd be buying the coffee anyway. Back in my petrol / diesel days, I found it pretty much impossible to buy fuel and not come out of the garage with a chocolate bar or two and a drink. Switching to EV hasn't changed anything on that score
Some good advice, cheers. Probably do the M40 home, I've got my dad in the car, it's got to go smoothly to prove to him they're ok. "What's tha bought electric for, do we sit here nar and wait until it's 100%....."
