I know people who work in London who can't afford a property in Westminster who have to do the 2 hour commute via train. If she makes money on the property does she keep the profit?

She's earned it. She's bettered herself. She's earned the right to be valuable enough.

Clough had it right with socialism. Life's a bowl of peaches if you knuckle down.

Practice what you preach. It's not 2 houses its 3 because many can't afford the apartment in Westminster and if she makes a profit on it she keeps it.

Not sure I see the issue here, she's bought another property whilst introducing changes which increase taxes on people buying multiple properties - I don't see the "gotcha" here. Surely the issue would be if she's lowering taxes and then buying another property and benefitting from her own policy?

No she doesn't does she? Isn't the Westminster apartment a government property?

When I worked in London I travelled daily from Stamford to Sloane Square for 3 years and then from Uxbridge to Whitehall for 5 years. It was quicker to travel from Stamford than Uxbridge, so I get people commuting, not only for time but also financial reasons

White middle aged men can’t stand a working class woman doing well for herself. Good on her I say. Probably the best politician we’ve got.

The best way to scare a Tory is to read and get rich.

If that’s a serious question she worked as a care worker for her local council and ended up being a union rep, which led her into politics.

To add to what others have said on the thread. She has campaigned for higher taxation on multiple house ownership - and has still chosen to spend some of the money she has legitimately earned in her career on a house on the coast - which is quite close to London - which I suspect she will use for family weekends away when she has chance and to rent out at other times.

And as a long term investment.

She has done exactly nothing wrong. Nothing at all.

Nigel Farage owns four houses - that are declared - and there are other properties in the names of his Mrs and kids.

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon when bankrupt was found to own properties worth into the millions in the U.K. and Spain.

Rishi Sunak has a property portfolio worth an estimated £20million and his wife via her parents have many more.

This is an absolute non-story. She has bought an asset using her own money. That’s it.

They do indeed, the only one being they all own more than one house. I can kick a football, doesn't make me Messi.

I’m not comparing them at all.

I’m pointing out some facts that you might be interested in - which don’t really match the agenda of some people.

You may or may not be one of those people…

Well presumably her constituency home is her main one so the other one will be subject to capital gains tax when she sells.
