As I keep saying to everyone, if this was northerners heading south it would be an absolute witch hunt. They would probably throw an accusation of racism in there too, just for good measure.

You have to remember, if you aren’t from London, or you don’t work in London, you are a racist northerner who doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong. A sub human.

The people United will never be defeated.

It looks to me like they're just testing their eyesight.

I would be prepared to wager the majority escaping the capital were northerners working in the capital returning to their own home and their families.

Despite what many people believe, the vast majority of the country aren't having a jolly old Covid, working from the hi-tec office in one of the spare rooms and taking a constitutional round the garden, they're delivering stuff, maintaining stuff, fixing stuff, building stuff, working on site wherever they have to be.

Too true. I love my football league or non league but now I'm in tier 4 all games are off or BCD. I could drive to tier 2 to Sussex or Oxfordshire but think it's no good me going on about people breaking the rules if I do the same. It's not all black and white either. Guy on local tv yesterday in tears as he's lost his mum and brother to Covid recently and was looking forward to travelling to his sisters for Christmas just to get a hug but as he's tier 4 he's not going . I'm a glass overflowing bloke so I'm coping ok but my better half worries about things a lot more and then I start worrying about her and it gets to be a vicious circle. Thankfully I've got family to chat to if needed though they are all up in Penistone and Wombwell so won't be face to face.
Still going to work in London at the moment but it's very very quiet everywhere. Stay safe and have the best Christmas you can given the circumstances. Remember you're not alone even if it's only blathering on here :)

Great post , a lot of people are experiencing many family & work issues , individuals are facing all kind of problems & to lump a group together & brand them because of where they come from is wrong , its still a long road we have to travel but with the vaccine there is light at the end of the tunnel

What I saw was a thick covid soup preparing to board trains and travel throughout the land. They were doing it because the prime minister had told parliament three days before that it was alright to do it. The same government then changed its mind. They didn't stop the trains, or invoke an immediate travel ban, they left it up to individuals and gave them a window to spread the virus in. Johnson should be made to resign. Surely there are some grown ups who can run the country?
    This will cost lives.

The only people I see talking about people having a ‘jolly old Covid’ are on here. Always going on about secure jobs and gardens. Like most of those on here with secure jobs aren’t those very people you are now mentioning, the ones putting themselves and their families at risk everyday. How many people do you know who have hi-tec home offices?

The thing is, the rules have to be sensible, i,ve just seen on the news that a nurse said that she was working a 12 hr shift on xmas day so they wer having xmas dinner etc on boxing day, she was told that she couldn,t, would it be so hard to be sensible and say the day you choose is up to you but its 1 day only ?, then another person messaged in and asked if he could travel from a tier 4 area to a tier 2 area for work and was told , yes thats fine, ludicrous, does covid know that he,s going to work and going to give him a wide berth ?, until he starts using more common sense in the restrictions he,s forcing on us he,s always going to get people saying $%ck you Boris , and its hard to blame them...

Been like that from day 1 though.
Recall at start of Tiers a news report about people from Wales were allowed to go shopping in Chester, but people in Chester were not allowed into Wales to shop due to difference in Tiers.

Yep, wishy washy ridiculous rules, for me , if we,re gonna lockdown, do it properly like we did in March, its been proven that these half baked lockdowns and tiers don,t work, just look at Wales, i believe they,re on their 4th, i think if we had a proper full lockdown like in March for 2 months after xmas combined with the vaccine it should be job done, unless of course the new variant isn,t affected by the vaccine...

No I don't, neither do I think everyone that left London suddenly on Saturday is selfish. This is the problem with generalizing, it misses out personal circumstances. Many will have been travelling to their bubble, and who can blame them? They would have done so sensibly a few days later but this inept government decided to cause a bit of chaos, and they have a lot to answer for.
