This reminds me of Danny Rose. A local lad who was similarly gutted when we released him. He's not done badly for himself in League 2 since.
This is without even bringing in the mental health side of it. We’re apparently big on support, but sending Marsh on loan, when it’s pretty clear to all he’s being released, with no contact whatsoever is just making a potentially dangerous mental health situation. We want the easy, performative wins, we don’t do substance, pre planning or diligence. Is a disgraceful situation and is a huge barometer of how unprofessionally we conduct ourselves as a club. Pathetic.
It's not a case of working away from home though, it's providing your services to another 'company', almost like being employed by someone else. I'd expect the loaning club to cover the costs of the loan.
How long were you away for. ? My son also works away a lot but maybe 1or 2 nights at most, any given week. But sorts his own accommodation. Bill gets paid by the company. He prefers it that way, This is a totally different situation. We are talking months. The host club always provide the digs. In our case, Many players put up in the Glasshouse Premier Inn. Or in the past. Ardsley house. Young players like Jalo and other academy players get/got placed with families. (Not sure if that is still the case but I know of a few that were put up at Staincross pre covid era)
