    To be fair so would I. With the same combined weight.

    He’s heavy, immobile, yes not all fat but completely musclebound. On his day a good player at that level but five years at least past his best, and 38 years of age.

    I know we’ve asked for experience but there’s a limit. I don’t mind the general ethos of buying young potential and selling a couple every year to stay solvent - it isn’t nice selling off your best every year but we need to keep our heads above water.

    What I wanted was one, maybe two slightly older heads, with proper match experience and leadership skills, to supplement and complement the abundance of u23 signings. One like we got with Sollbauer (who og at Elland Road aside has strengthened our back line exponentially, and he’s not even that great a player).

    I hope that lesson has been learnt and that we move forward with the same basic method but with enough flexibility to give a player or two to the manager to offer some leadership and guile.

    Ainsworth said at the end of the game at Wembley against Oxford, that everybody in the squad would
    get their chance to play in the Championship, as he had been told that there wasn't a budget to bring
    any new players in.
