Hourihane 45 assists for the club.
    Phillips 25.

Not really similar on that count.

How many more assists is Hourihane going to get?

Conor played over 100 games in the Premier League for Villa.
For all I like Phillips I don’t see him as a PL player at all.

0 but if Phillips is to get to a similar number as him then his appearances won’t be similar any more.

Hey I must admit though, I thought it was f*ing ace that season when we won away at Aston Villingham.
Especially as Conor had recently left us, and he was with Villa against us, that night.

I like Phillo, he's been, and continues to be, an excellent player for us.

But...there is no comparison with Conor. CH was an absolute barn storming player, and skipper, for us, went on to perform for Villa in getting them promoted to the PL, and then played 100+ games in the PL.

As much as I like AP I just can't see him having such a career.

    Plus...CH is such a sexy bstard :D

Connor wasn’t keen by all accounts

I'll always add this about Conor. Until Adam Hammill came back he was little above average imo. Had some play acting in his game. (Hammill took the lead role and spurred the whole team on.) He then turned out to be one of our best ever players and his career went to another level. Deservedly so.

Phillips has certainly upped his game since Connor took over. That rollicking he'll have got. Won't have done him any harm. As now it's in the past. And benefitted him. (I don't think Connor should have made it public though and maybe that's a lesson he's learned. Eg Mwalaki and lopata not entirely being open about their positions at the club, some things need to be kept under wraps)
Some of the link up play on Saturday with Phillips and Cleary amongst others like Kelly was sublime in that second half. It certainly put him back in the shop window. Not that I'd like him to leave.
Someone mentioned a sublime pass of Phillips. The best long pass of the day imo was Earl to Cleary. Banksesque

So I've heard, and I'm sure he has his reasons. CH is far better placed and more qualified to assess Max Watters' potential to improve Barnsley's team than any of us on here. Just on the face of it, it looks a bit odd.

Where would he play? In one of the wider positions? He can’t perform the role that McG is carrying out. That’s not Watters’ game.

He likes to run in behind, to play on the shoulder of the defenders. Asking him to come deep and link play is like asking me to grow a fringe.

I completely agree with this. You don’t let players leave in positions you’re short in until a replacement is found.

Case in point is Newcastle with Isak. He’s going nowhere unless they find a suitable replacement

Connor had the ability to clean house every player that’s gone he’s told they have no future at the club lopata and Nwakali will follow as well as Jackson smith

Very surprised about Jackson Smith. Young keeper brought in as a long-term option, who was very unfortunate to sustain an injury last season. By all accounts has an excellent attitude.
