But if the player wants to go what's the point in keeping him, every player strives to test himself in the premiership why stand in the lads way, we've had and lost better players, I trust Hecky and his team to bring him a suitable replacement.

Doesn't this demonstrate exactly the club strategy in action? I thought our plan was to:-

    a) Attract young, hungry talent that would help us succeed on the pitch, achieve something. Tick

    b) Allow the players we attract to help secure success for us , contribute to the team whilst raising their own value and creating themselves opportunities to play at the highest level. Tick

    c) Club cash in when we get an offer than enables us to reinvest in the strategy and also to help the clubs sustainability going forward. Tick

    d) We restart the cycle and with Angus coming in and the club still looking to recruit this also seems on track.

Burnley and Watford have both sold players for big money during their rise.

I understand that , I just hoped that we might have tried a little harder to keep him , that would have shown real intent and ambition . This week has seemed like an auction. If we needed the money then fair enough, but we don't.

Basically the clubs 'strategy' is to make a profit and there's nothing wrong with that . If we hadn't got the Stones money then selling Alfie would have been totally understandable . What happens this week if we get a 3m offer for Conor or Sam or Mark Roberts ? do we just sell them cos its the clubs 'strategy' ?

If the price is right and it fits the plan then the answer has to be a big yes. Thats our plan after all, not just profit but competitive at the highest level we play. We shouldn't abandon it once the bank balance grows. Bear in mind some of it gets reinvested back on the pitch and also we don't get the cash all in one go from these deals. The idea is incomings to be greater than outgoings and if we can buy a player at 500K and make 10 times that profit, reinvesting 1M back into equally as good or better players then surely thats progression. Also remember part of attracting the young, hungry talent in the first place is to help them develop their careers upwards and support their personal plans too. Of course all aspects of the plan have to work for it to be successful. Alfie replacement is the next test.

If the player decides he wants to leave and go play in the premiership then unfortunately I think that would be yes, I'm guessing if Mawson would have knocked on Heckys door saying that he doesn't want to leave then we would have kept him, unfortunately contracts mean very little now, I can't see the point in keeping a player that has set his heart on playing at a higher level,

    Yes. Good work BFC.

Considering we've got more than double what we go for stones, and mawson is good but not in the same class as stones.

Yes great deal for BFC, looks like the days where we sell our best players for next to nowt have gone and the club has grown some balls and got the fee they valued Alfie at. In the past we would have accepted anything over 750k
