Yes but obviously I'm assuming that there would be assurances given and risk assessments completed by scientists first so based on the position that French parents would find themselves in.
Honestly think they will look at doing something after half term .... seems to be a few things starting creep open. How will they keep them safe I have no idea but if they try and get economy going again then schools will have to open in some way first to allow others to return to work
Ah, Govt sssurances and risk assessments, good old Sage led by Cummins, what could go wrong eh? Tell you what. You send your hypothetical school-age kids to school under this climate, and I’ll keep my real one at home until something drastically changes
That is entirely your prerogative and why the OP asked the question. I suspect there will be similar conversations going on in France if the return is voluntary and I don't think there is a right or a wrong answer. PS. My hypothetical kids were school aged at one point so my answer is not just hypothetical but based on what I would have done as a parent if this had happened when they were at school and the information provided was sufficient to make an evidence based decision.
You can’t honestly say that’s how you would’ve felt or reacted especially in these times of uncertainty and mistrust.
Yes I can but as I've said my decision would be influenced by the information available and as things stand right now my kids would be still at school anyway. At some point we have to start to get the country back on track or the economic damage will be crippling and this is going to mean that children have to return to school. If the evidence from the medical community was that them returning to school, but following guidance, was safe then I would be willing to let them return.
Whilst there may be those things said if they want people to hear them, it wouldn’t be true at the moment. Spend 5 minutes in a school and you’ll see that social distancing is impossible. Not difficult but literally impossible. Your kids could be lucky and not get it (or not have a bad reaction), you could be lucky and not get it from them (or not have a bad reaction), same with the rest of your family and colleagues and anyone you pass by or be in the same room as but put 2000 people in one building and then let them go off and be around X amount of people and the consequences will be disastrous. It’s too soon until numbers start to fall way more than they are at the moment and then proper testing and tracing needs to take place.
Maybe our schools should be like those in Taiwan... https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/e...cranking-up-mask-production-to-meet-shortfall Would you be happy to send your child to school without any protection, when other countries are doing things like this - IIRC China also has the kids in plastic face coverings too.
How do they learn? Stood in the corner playing on their phones? Kids are kids, they are very adaptable and perhaps learning like that might get them to the same educational standards as Taiwan enjoys in Maths and Science at least (British kids are better at reading) - and those in China and Singapore are doing significantly better in all subjects. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-50563833
I'm both a parent and opinionated; I'm also on immunosuppressant drugs. No question for me - they'll be going back as soon as is feasible.
Strange is it not, I’ve done a brief survey around work based on this thread and of those that would send their kids to school, none of them have any to send.
I get that JD and all are good points. My response was whether I would let my kids return to school based on the position that French parents are in. I imagine that not only would it be voluntary but also phased to ensure that the guidelines could also be followed.

Don't know about sending my son back, I've found by trying to help him with his home learning that it's me who needs to go back first, I know I was no genius at school but I did ok but what they learn today is so different to what I did back in the 80's lol, I've never even heard of half the subjects
