I'd definitely furlough the playing staff. Many of the backroom staff will still have a role to do. We're not playing football, players are not needed. Furlough them.

    so if I’m right then

The premier league want to drop players wages 30% under the guise of donating it to charity but it’s actually to pay back sky and BT?

The sensible thing here would be for clubs to say we are putting you on 50%wages or something and pay the rest of the staff. If the players object furlough them and put them on £2500 a month or whatever the cap is. Just another sign of how strong player/agent power is. The economy is collapsing but we still need to pay the millionaire footballers!

    I agree with you 100%.

Clubs won't risk £100m+ 'assets' not looking after themselves if they are not allowed to impose a fitness plan/tracking on them, though.

i doubt liverpool are the only club at it, the fookin players throughout the premier league should hang their heads in shame.............

but whilever folk keep turning up to spectate then the trough will only get deeper, those working class players dont give a flying fook abart nobody or anything that the rest of us rely on

Void the season now so the club with the fake club motto can't take the title.

I wanted Liverpool to get the title as they deserved it. I don't anymore.

Remember this isn’t the players fault though. There’s 500 footballers and 2.5 millionaires in this country but all of a sudden footballers are the devil again.....(there’s a big but coming below)

Liverpool have taken this decision to furlough staff and should be ashamed as should Tottenham

Regarding the players again the link on another thread was fantastic, players could give up some or all of there pay without noticing. They could and should help the clubs own staff

That's my gripe, these clubs are paying obscene amounts of cash to footballers yet won't cover the wages of their own non-playing staff. What kind of message does that send out to them? They're the ones who will still be there in a few years time. They keep the club ticking over. A big slap in the face. Can understand lower league clubs but not likes of Liverpool etc. Disgusting.

Hope the players donate the amount that the club is scumming off the government to the NHS.

Can't wait to see how their horrendous supporters justify this one.

I would be just as disgusted if we kept paying our players full pay and put non playing staff on furlough.

Yet more... Privatise the profits, socialise the losses.

Sadly, that's how the majority of big business works.

On the first available day back all football fans should go and stand outside the grounds and refuse to go in out of protest.

indefensible by Liverpool or any Premiership club . The fact others may be doing it just makes it worse.

Same as when a club goes into administration. The first to get money owed is the taxman. But next are the players, paid in full or club goes under. Fcku the little old caterers. back room staff. Small businesses that are owed money. When we went into administration we still had to pay players contracts/wages in full. A ruling of the efl I believe.

The problem is the owners are Yank businessmen & couldn’t care less about supporting the NHS.

Klopp’s a socialist & Henderson’s apparently an instigator in trying to get premier league players donating money so I find it hard to believe any of the management or players are backing the board.

It’s wrong, just like it’s wrong what Spurs & Newcastle are doing but I’ve no doubt their attitude will be look at the profits Branson’s companies makes & he’s doing the same etc so I don’t know how you get round it.

Before the furlough was even mentioned by the government they'd offered to pay the casual workers for the next few matches at full pay.

Not sure mate. But we have to concentrate on the big boys first and foremost. The revenue alone from sky probably exceeds 20 times that of the championship let alone the 1st and 2nd divisions. Which I believe the premier league/ efl have stepped in to help.
Obnoxious the money that is being found from the coffers. God knows where it goes when there isn’t a crisis. Believe me they weren’t saving up in expectations of Coronavirus or its ilk. If it wasn’t for my love of my team I’d chalk fcku on it. ( may sound weird but along with my family and friends it has been my life)
Love Barnsley fc hate football. Don’t think I’ve ever used that term with more feeling.
