That's a very small incidence of occurrence in our entire history, and it certainly wouldn't happen in the modern footballing industry. Not many coaches who get to retire and leave on their own terms these days.

I know you did. My point to the poster I replied to was more to highlight that pretty much all coaches (particularly nowadays) leave for another job or are sacked.

Oh for the days of passing the baton down the ranks and retaining some knowledge and insight for more than a couple of years.

 

It will only be a manager (head coach) who fits the agreed model of the high press (although I can't see that from our current head coach).

I'd still like Nigel Clough, knows how to get the best out of a team who are perceived to be punching above their weight. Only left Burton because of financial situation.

If I threw a proper ringer in there and I'm well aware that many folk will dismiss straight away but I watched that interview with Gary Neville and Roy Keane. Keane wants to get back into the management game.
Not the greatest records but he fully admits that he made a mistake going to Ipswich. He'd defo offer a presence! Like I said nothing more than throwing a name in there as it would never happen.

Clough however should be a target IMO
