Well that depends upon what they're being told to do. And what license they have to use their own initiative. Seems to me that once they're over the half way line we can play it Seems to me that when we can, we try and get it out wide and try an Albrighton type quick as possible cross in when their centre backs aren't set. Trouble is we don't have the fox in the box.
I agree about Williams, I’m not sure there was much completion however the team was pretty poor early on under Struber and I can’t see where he improves us a team long term, I’ll be happy if he proves me wrong I’ll give you a choice.... James, Palmer or Kane in the starting 11? Forget in the squad, based on this season
I think the biggest challenge is that going long early when we could drive forward normally results in us just losing the ball. Combined with the fact that if we do go long the quality of the ball tends to be so poor that we lose the ball anyway. That's why I like Frieser in this team at the moment. The quality might not be there but he's your main chance of winning the second ball because he's an ankle biter and doesn't give you a second to breath. Our current play relies on that.
Palmer mate. Thought he was poor the last game but I like his athleticism and positivity and think he just gets better and better with a run of games. Plus he's our player.
lol you are guessing! I agree he's getting better, but you can’t tell me Val put James in for 20 odd games if Palmer was a better player.
Palmer wasn't fit for a fair few of those. I do worry he'll never be fit enough to be honest as he's always picking up knocks. I'm not guessing, You asked me which player I'd pick and I gave you my answer!
From what I saw, IV said he that he wanted to invest time in our own players so he took the view that having confidence that the Club wouldn't let Mowatt move in this window, he would let James return to Leicester in order to improve the claims of the likes of Kane to secure a place in our team, plus saving the wages paid to James would allow us to bring Morris and hopefully another striker in on a permanent basis.
based on the season so far! The games James was available for, you stated Palmer had been injured, You aren’t surely saying you’d have 10 men!? even through the most rosiest tinted of glasses it is clear James was one of our 2 best midfielders.
Think I misunderstood your question. I thought you were asking which player I'd pick to play out of the three. Still insist I'd go for Palmer in this formation.
There’s a real sadness to Matty James. I saw it in an interview he made for the BFC website. It was in his eyes & voice. Imagine losing 3-4 years of your professional career? A job you love & was born to do? In Matt’s case, that’s 25% of your working life.. A very graceful, intelligent footballer. We never saw the best of him & sadly, I don’t think anyone ever will, again. His best move, would have been signing permanently for us. But his heart is in Leicester & who can blame him?
time might prove you right mate. I was talking about the period James was with us, that’s the only period we can truly discuss. in our formation and playing long balls it’s probably irrelevant anyway, here’s something I’ve been thinking about, might need a new thread... do we need strikers to score goals? Seems daft but I’m thinking about the wide 2, Jacob brown would have been immense in this formation I think, assists and chips in with the odd goal. chaplin, Adeboyejo are strikers playing wide hence look shïte, Thomas was a winger playing wide and you’d think he’d be ideal but wasn’t, Frieser probably the best at it but I’m not sure yet. 2 positions that require a unique skill set not just any old centre forward.
We need forwards rather than strikers. Not wingers. Not Number 9's (as we've got Woodrow). But athletic and fluid forwards. We also need to stop belting the ball up to their heads aimlessly
Think James said he wanted another challenge and didn’t want to stay , Val said we didn’t want to renew his loan and need to concentrate on younger players ........ probably both
We're a festering turd at minute Jay but the people that matter think Toby Sibbick is Franz Beckanbauer so who am I to argue?
I loved Matty James but he wasnt as ifientialmas last time around for one reason. Val doesnt play through midfield. Val plays vertical football and he cuts out the midfield. Matty might have been a positive influence at the club (by all accounts) but he offered nothing more than Palmer in that CM position. He offered more than Herbie is offering but not more than Romal can or Calum S would .
The "do we need strikers?" question is a good one. We need awkward fast blokes to disrupt a defence to stop them dealing easily with long balls. But we still need bodies to be a goal threat.
