not what i'm saying at all.

It affected those player not scoring runs and not turning over strike.

Cook's fine. England captain. Leading run scorer. But you can't have 2 in the top 3 that score at Alistair's rate.

Can see it coming. This Hameed gets picked, scores at SR 45 he'll not last two minutes. Only room for one of those and that's Captain Fantastic. The guy that's lead england to at least a draw against every Test Nation at the moment.

Are you for real? I didn't start this thread to bait you, merely to express my disdain for endless, meaningless pyjama cricket. It doesn't surprise me you've jumped all over it though. As for disrespect. I implied I don't rate one day cricket. You went ahead and disrespected a list of some of the greatest names in the history of Yorkshire and England cricket.

TBF I don't see why it has to be one form of the game or the other, I was brought up watching test cricket and appreciate and like the longer game, but I also enjoy and can appreciate the shorter forms, and if the shorter forms didn't exist cricket would be dying on its arse because Tests apart its the shorter form that draws the crowds and funding.

No, Compton And Ballance were dropped because the were facing ball after ball, then getting out. i.e. not staying around long enough to accumulating a score. Geoff used to face hundreds of balls, which not only allowed him to accumulate big scores, but tire and demorolise the bowlers he was facing.

In Test cricket you have 5 days, sticking around is a lot more important that strike rate. As your favorite opener Cook knows, and Hales is finding out!

And speaking of Hales, if there is only room for one "accumulator" style batsmen, why are the selectors considering this 19 y/o Hameed over Hales?

    Thought you'd love Boycott Hemmsie.

What with him coming through the Man U youth setup and what have you.

Don't forget he's vain as well - never appearing on TV without his hat.

Could be a lifestyle thing though. He used to bowl in his cap!
