League 1 wasn’t a ‘cake walk’ last season, I personally don’t know anyone that said that. Indeed, there were twists and turns towards then where any of 4 teams could’ve got Automatic promotion, We had a some luck at the end, but it was deserved luck because we had put ourselves in such a position to benefit from other clubs slip ups.
What you tend to find is that they come begging in March and April for us to buy season tickets, they meekly apologise for all their faults saying how many lessons they have learned and that we are all on a journey together so please join us on the way. We, not all, fall for it and then come August we get the "Up yours Delors" moment as once again they crap on the supporters from a great height and wander off into the future with their own consciences salved but leaving the fans with total disbelief and amazement at how, once again, things have gone so horribly wrong. It's only a matter of time.
I'm a bit fed up of the yoyoing between the Championship and League 1. In 2013/14. I thought a clear out of the playing squad was needed and it was good chance to regroup. As it turned out that's the way it transpired and the likes of Hourihane, Mawson, Watkins, Scowen and Winnall gave us a great side. This was sold off. Eventually the club was sold and the new owners came in too late to stave off relegation which in my view the hangover from January 2017. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and with a good squad for League 1 we came back at the first attempt. We might come back at the first attempt this time. It's just a case of being fed up of rinsing and repeating. For me it gets old hat.
Bloody hell wtaf. The owners have made mistakes in fact the same mistake twice and aren’t taking responsibility which is pissing fans off . But to reel them off as the anti christ is way way over the top . Imo if these owners wanted to asset strip or whatever they would surely have loaded the club with massive debt took the proceeds and pissed off . They haven’t done that , if the same mistake happens again I’ll reassess my views but untill then I’ll keep away from statements saying they’re saints and others saying they are sinners and come up with something in between . Whether people want to renew or not is entirely up to them it’s their hard earned money and their right to choose I’ll be guided by my own counsell on that .
The only thing the meek will inherit is a dilapidated husk of a planet, after the folks with gumption have buggered off to colonise the stars.
The galling thing is most of us were used to us more than competing in the 2nd tier over many years. Our 'spiritual home' as it has been called. To feebly accept us winning a few games in L1 under the guise that it is 'more fun' is nothing short of submission. I do respect your view though.
It's fair to say that the financial goal posts have moved since we were comfortable in the 2nd tier. It doesn't feel like our home when you see the vast levels of debt that Championship clubs are carrying. That said, I also think that if we had signed Sollbauer in August, we would be well clear of the bottom three right now. Frustrating...
Well this time last season Daniel S was in charge and after the disappointment if relegation we were riding high in the league ,feeling buoyant and promotion was a real possibility. However there is no guarantee that the same will happen again when we are relegated.( which looks inevitable if Saurday is owt to go on). No DS whose enthusiasm was uplifting and doubtless without Mowatt, Woodrow, and maybe Brown,Chaplin, Wilks and Mc Geehan. Can't say I am optimistic about the future of the club ...
I don't think anyone is feebly accepting anything, it's just that some of us don't see the point in jumping up and down getting worked up at something that we can do bugger all about (and yes, I know we do it every other Saturday).
I’m happy. Very disappointed with how the season has panned out. But still happy with the general direction of the club - even it that means another one or two seasons in the 3rd tier.
