Some of you may have seen the article in the Barnsley Chronicle this morning regarding a young woman (34) who has died recently, I have copied it at the bottom of this post.

What the article doesn't say (for obvious reasons at the moment) is that it's highly likely her death was as a result of having the astrazeneca vaccine, due to her having the underlying health condition detailed in the article. I don't want this post to turn into debate about the vaccine, I just want to publicise the fund raiser below, please share this if you can.

She was one of my wife's friends and they have started to raise money for her son's future. They have already raised over £855 via a raffle and have a go fund me page which currently has £1375 donated.

If anyone can help with donations the page is here: www.gofundme.com/f/supporting-a-special-family

    Thanks.

THE husband of a 34-year-old mum-of-two who died suddenly while awaiting a routine operation believes questions need to be answered before his family can grieve.

Kim Lockwood suffered from intracranial hypertension, which caused a pressure build-up around her brain and left her with headaches that could have resulted in blindness if left untreated.

She was due to undergo a lumbar puncture which would help ease symptoms by draining spinal fluid and was admitted to Rotherham Hospital on March 22 - however just two days later, her family were told she had died from a catastrophic brain bleed.

“She was admitted to hospital for tests but became very anxious while waiting and decided to come home and give it another try the day after,” said Kim’s husband, Damien Lockwood, 41.

“On the morning of March 23, she phoned me at work and told me she had been vomiting and was going to take herself back to the hospital.

“She kept updating me and told me she was waiting for a lumbar procedure which she had had before, but she rang me that evening in tears because the morphine she had been given for her headache wasn’t working and she was in a lot of pain.

“She sounded really upset and I felt horrible that I couldn’t be there with her because of the pandemic.

“I tried to reassure her that everything would be okay, and urged her to get some sleep as she hadn’t slept much the night before. I didn’t know then that that would be the last time I spoke to my wife.”

Damien received a phone call at 3am on March 24 to say that Kim had died after suffering a brain bleed.

She leaves two children - Jayden, 14, and Jax, six.

“I was shocked,” added Damien, of Comrades Place, Goldthorpe. “I had spoken to her hours earlier and suddenly I was being told my wife had died. None of us thought this could happen because she was in the best place to get treatment and as far as we knew, she wasn’t in any immediate danger.

My lad Jay played in the same football team as her son jayden. So I knew them. Loose cannon he was when it came to getting stuck in, not scared of anything. Fond memories of it all. 4 years to the day, as it happens that team went on to win the Sheffield cup in the under 10s. What a day that was, capped off with my lad getting the MOTM

Shocked when I found out as she was so young.

I'm not entirely sure the vaccine was to blame from what I was told, but the lumbar procedure can lead to (though very rare) brain injuries in extreme circumstances.

I'll stay out of the debate on that one, but just wanted to acknowledge, that they are a very decent family and good folk.

    RIP Kimberley

I had a bleed on the brain in February 2019. This heartbreaking story brings home how lucky I was to come through the other side. The feelings of guilt when you hear about people who weren’t as fortunate never goes away. RIP and condolences to the family.

You certainly have nothing to feel remotely guilty for. I'm glad for you.

Thank you, that’s kind of you. It was hard for me, I wasn’t expected to last through the night when it happened. It was all filmed on Casualty 24/7 too, so there’s a constant reminder. A few months earlier from mine a lad I know’s dad died of the same thing, and the same age as me. That was hard to deal with. The guilt is a known effect in survivors, and it does stay with you.

I’ll never be as I was fully, but you take it. I don’t want to hijack the thread, so let’s leave it about the poor young lady
