Not ideal with such a long tail. Bresnan, Hodd, Patterson, Rafiq, Sidebottom, Brooks is not the strongest 6-11 you've ever seen!
Maybe someone would care to dig Saturday's thread out where some enlightened soul told us Azeem Rafiq was useless??
Must be a flat pitch if Hodd can get 90 odd and Brooks 40 odd both not out good to see Hodd get runs though I like him, got a great attitude for being in and out of the team Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good comeback for ladt 4 wkts to put on a further 230 when a score of 100 looked unlikely at one stage.
can't see us looking over our shoulders, mainly poor day today despite wkt from last ball, we need to grab early wickets tomorrow, weather iffy for thurs which we'll be batting in
Disagree. Not a poor day, surely? Got to 280 from 51-6 and took 2 wickets. I'd say we're on top. And given they put us in to bat, and dominated the morning, it can't be that flat!
not saying whose on top, but 51/6 at 1 stage? that's poor if you wanna be champs. will see if we can bowl them out sub 200, they get 250/275 then?
Of course the start was poor (was 64/6 at one point, actually, I got it wrong; still bad like!). But the sign of real champions is being able to put a good score on when you have poor starts like that. It's happened loads in the last couple of years. Most of the time it was Barstow who bailed us out, but even when it hasn't been him, there's always been someone, and the fact that two players who haven't scored many with the bat recently did the business is fantastic. Notts must be deflated Other examples of this happening recently: Durham at home last season: we were about 95/9 in 1st inns, got about 165, bowled them out for about the same. Then we were 90/5 in 2nd inns, Maxwell and Rashid scored massive 100s to get us over 400, then we bowled them out Lancashire at home this season: We were about 26/4 and 70/5 in 1st inns, but Bresnan and Rashid put on good scores to get us to 300. We went on to win It's no coincidence that we keep doing it! Hopefully we can pressure Notts now and try and enforce follow-on, though that's unlikely. If not, hopefully a lead of around 80!
