I’m not sure about Cricketers wages at County level but I was always under the impression that Yorkshire CC are the Giants in terms of support and size.Should they be lambasted as in Premier league football clubs?
They haven't got a pot to piss in. Unless it's Surrey, a county clubs season is usually made by the T20 crowds and whether it gets a test match. This year there'll be neither, so I would suggest it's a fair thing to do.
The average county cricketer salary is around £50k, probably a bit more in places like Surrey and Hampshire, as Fonzie says.
No expert on county cricket finances. But pales into insignificance compared to football. I think the main money lies with the ECB. Who distribute money to the counties. Not sure where YCC stand on the membership ( season tickets) count but guessing it's a fraction of years ago. The main income coming from The ECB and the one day game. A new 100 ball per innings game was to be launched this year. The Super northern chargers. To play at headingley. Only 8 sides I believe. Made up of players from different counties. Players making huge figures if they earn an England contract. Indian premier league. and Aussie contracts
As far as I can see ( and I’m not an expert) Yorkshire are constantly trying to balance the books and never far from going bust
The ECB hold the money and i think it's pretty frugal when distributing money to the counties. Perhaps the ECB should step in?
