Haven’t seen a post regarding him so here’s my view. Firstly, he Didn’t effect the game or the outcome, but I thought it was going to be another Coventry type performance from him. The number of fouls Blackpool committed in that first half without a card can’t have been far off the Coventry count. Annoyingly one of ours was first to get a card. A gentle nudge on one of theirs was always a foul but no so for us. Blackpool’s preventing of taking quick free kicks and kicking the ball away was seemingly ignored, their was one instance where their player hoofed it into the stand long after the whistle had gone and the ref simply laughed at him.
He let the game go. More should be like him. We were absolute dog $hite. A ref with a Barnsley shirt on wouldn’t have been enough.
Agree re first half 3 deliberate fouls he gave nothing more than a foul and first one we did 2nd half was a booking. Dougall should have been on a yellow from about 10mins in he couldn’t have kept doing those little niggly pull backs he was up to all game had he been on a yellow already.
He let the game go more for them, ‘ more should be like him’ what you mean let one side commit a foul almost every challenge and not produce a card, even to persistent offenders, then make sure the first time their opponents make a yellow card offence ensure they get that card. Absolutely no consistency with way the he dealt with offenders
Not really. He blew up for countless fouls from their midfielders, but didn’t book anyone. If he had, styles and Benson might have had a bit more time on the ball.
This is getting to be a regular thing though, isn't it? Opposition rough us up all through the first half (not difficult, I admit) without a single yellow card, and fouls are often ignored. But then we get to the second half and the ref can't wait to card one of ours and it's usually for an innocuous challenge/offence. It's not a coincidence any more. It happens virtually every game. Maybe our lads should be a bit tougher in challenges and stand up to it a bit more, but we don't.
Would love to know what marks he got from the assessor . Way certain refs keep getting gigs for abject and inept performances he’ll have got nine and half out of ten . He may not have influenced the result but he emboldened the opposition to play up to shithousery .
He wasn’t great and should have carded a couple of Blackpool players first half but he wasn’t that bad it’s was only his lack of consistency on booking I would fault him on. No complaints on Iseka booking but Moon and Benson were soft compared to what Blackpool got away with
We should’ve been able to recognise what the ref was letting go, and put their defenders and midfielders under much more pressure.
Agree he let a heck of a lot of niggly cynical challenges go without caution in the first half that didn't help our cause. But he wasn't on the same level as that ref from a few weeks ago who was disgraceful. Can I remember which match? Of course I cannot. One thing I did like about this weekend's ref though, and I saw him do this a few times, is when a player came up to him to get in his face and protest he ran through them, creating contact and forcing the player to back off or face landing themselves in trouble.
Can't blame the ref for yesterday I know who i blame and if he needs a lift to airport after Wednesday I'm.happy to help him.
I haven’t blamed him, just think he was poor because of his inconsistency with the fouls. Although as another poster has alluded to, it allows them to continue disruption tactics
Yeah he probably could have dished out a few yellows the constant kicking the ball away should have been clamped down on. But the ref was the least of my concerns after yesterday.
