To be honest I can't say I've seen much of him. Is he a similar player to Marc Roberts? Sunderland fans were posting about which players they'd like to sign for next season, and his name came up. Some thought he was the best defender in league one. Obviously, I'm biased towards Pinnock being the dogs danglies. Wonder what he's worth to us?
Pinnock and Clarke together would be immense. The best 2 central defenders in league one last year by a mile
Pinnock must be worth seven or eight million at least, and could be worth a heck of a lot more if he does the business in the championship.
All depends on contracts if pinnock signs a new deal and performs in the championship I think he would be worth 7 or 8 million. At the minute his deal ends next season if he won't sign a new one we would be lucky to get 5 million.
Pinnock with a year left on his contract and very little experience in the Championship he's worth more to us than anyone would be willing to pay. If he signs a new year four year contract and starts finding the net more regularly than last season, the final combined fee for Stones will look like peanuts.
I don't think Clarke has any championship experience but a premiership club are willing to gamble 5million on him by the looks. People pay big money for ball playing defenders who can 1st and foremost defend. I doubt him scoring a couple more a season will bump his value up that much.
Also says in article that Clarke's contract is up and the end of next season (like Pinnock) so I would expect that if Pinnock doesn't sign an extension this summer & we get a similar offer then we will cash in.
If he doesn't sign I think we should let him go in January having got a replacement ready this summer. If we're doing well he might want to extend his contract with us anyway.
Him and Pinnock are equally as fantastic as each other and head and shoulders above everyone else in League One. If Pinnock does leave, realistically it won't be for much more than the £5 million spent here. As @pompey_red points out, them two together would be immense at the right level (Championship).
The one thing going against Pinnock being worth more is the fact he's 3 years older than Clarke. If you believe their fans and Clarke is of a similar standard to Pinnock right now, then those 3 extra years are very valuable in terms of development.
