Do we know that we’d have been okay? The gap between league 1 and the championship is getting bigger all the time and the players we’ve let go aren’t exactly setting the world alight. Would’ve put up more of a fight though than our current side. I think that’s safe to say.
we were consistent and solid, we would have given ourselves a chance, I would have backed us to stay up with one or two additions
But the investment portfolio wouldn't have looked as good for Barnsley footballer investments (Hong Kong) ltd
My eyes tell me it is the case. I didn't rate Liam Lindsay but every single player we got rid of were two or three times as good as what we've brought in
We had the meanest defence in the football league. Only one club in the Premier League conceded fewer. They wouldn't have gone from that to anything like this shower no matter how big the step up is.
I agree. But we still don’t know if it would’ve been good enough to be competitive in this league. If only the owners had been stubborn with player sales so we could’ve seen how they could’ve got on. I imagine Pinnock and Halme would’ve probably made a decent partnership.
Just glad we're still having a go. Better than watching that shower served up by Heckingbottom. Same end result.
The football turned turgid under Hecky due to the exact same plan that is embarrassing us this season. It wasn't pretty under Hecky (second season in the championship) but we had more points on the board than we have this season. There is a common denominator here.
Well he had no resale value so he had no right to be in a Barnsley top. Loan players are not welcome at Oakwell.
Just run through today’s line up and count how many positions we’ve strengthened in since last season. Arguably the keeper can be one (if not then Collins is) Then who?
No doubt Hecky had a better team that year, and we still went down. That's why its absolutely bonkers we have put together a worse one, ruled out loans and gone into the season totally unprepared for the league we are in.
