.....was some ***** in the Ponty sat watching Man Utd versus Sevilla on his phone. Numpty even missed the goal as his eyes were on his tiny screen.

    Why would you do that?

    Whereabouts do you sit, Pete?

I ask because was checking Livescore.com, and a bloke behind me said something along the lines of: "I'd ban bloody mobiles from the ground."

I thought it was directed at me although it seemed like a strange thing to say.

Now I am thinking that maybe someone near him was watching a stream of another game or whatever.

Ultimately, people will do as they like. Someone watching a different game on a phone would not affect my enjoyment of what's in front of me. Sooner that than them stand up all match etc.

Checking Livescore is something my dad would find jarring. I find it weird that the teenager I go to games with spends all night on Snapchat messaging people in other parts of the stadium. Each to their own, I s'pose.

I just had a conversation with one of my colleagues, on a related subject. He is 46 and has never owned a smartphone. It makes me think I might get rid of mine the next time it is up for renewal.

Was this near back of ponty, to the left of center about 3 or 4 rows down?

Same near front, left of Ponty. Had 3-4 folk sat round me giving minute by minute updates on the Man Utd score.

Left of center as you look towards the pitch? That would be very close to where I sit. There is a lad sits behind me who uses his phone but only for score updates I think.

This lad watched the whole Man Utd match, only pausing when the stream stopped. Mario, most people check their phones for on-going scores I'd guess.

My husband used to attend matches with me at first even though he hates football. He didn’t play on his phone but he would 100% have preferred it to watching the match. He soon stopped going once he realised I didn’t mind going on my own and the money is far too much to just throw away. Maybe this person just doesn’t care about BFC? At least the club got his money and he got to spend the time doing something he enjoyed. Win, win.

You're probably right although I don't but in truth this is probably more to do with the capabilities of my phone as opposed to my desire to check for score updates.
