Class shown by Cauley, no celebrations after his goals, he clearly has a lot of respect and affection for his old club.
He played over 60 games for them. At the time they were in the Premier League & he had little option but to move on, so he must have feelings for Fulham, he was with them for 8 years, despite having some loan moves, which is part & parcel these days. He comes over as a total professional & we are very lucky to be watching him at the moment. It won't last, but he'll give us 100% every game, which is all you can ask.
Remember the Dennis law back heel goal. For Man City against Man utd. Proper gutted he was. Think it had a hand in relegating em.
LOL guessing you are too young to remember the goal Dennis Law scored against Man U to relegate them - he made Cawleys lack of celebration look positively exuberant - think he was almost in tears but he still stuck it away
Went to bfc end of seasons dinner around 1994 and he was the after dinner speaker. Said that goal was the worst moment of his career
Got the distinct impression he was pushed out and always viewed manure as his true club. They do it for a job of work but they can't all be machines I suppose
He wasn’t to know that he would score the goal that would relegate them though. Even the possibility of Man U being relegated would have been unimaginable at the start of that season
It’s that long since I can’t remember what Law’s motivation to move was but I suspect he wasn’t getting a regular spot at Man U any more. City certainly wasn’t the force they are now and probably could offer him a regular start. It was Sod’s law (no pun intended) that they met in the last game when Utd were in such a predicament
On the Sky extended highlights I noticed that Scott Parker had a word with Cauley on the pitch. I couldn't help thinking that it might have been along the lines, 'if you want to come back, the door's always open,' or words to that effect. Maybe a good job that Scotty might not be in the Fulham hot-seat beyond this season then!
Parker gets a tough time off their fans. Loads want him sacked and before we played them they were joint second!!!!
It's that carrot of Premier League promotion. Does strange things to people. I just wish we were in a similar predicament. I'd love to see the football that was on show from 1995-2000 again.
I doubt it - for a start thats against the rules and I think Parker is a fairly straight guy He cant sign him until the Summer and if they go up he will probably want a more proven striker If they dont go up - Woodrow would be a great signing for him but I doubt Parker will be there to make the call Much more likely to be a well played and good luck comment
Top player Dennis Law. I saw him play as a kid at Oakwell for Huddersfield boys. My older brother was right half for Barnsley Boys, he had the job of trying to mark him. Law played in a pair of them pink framed national health glasses stuck to his head with 'elastoplast'. After the match he was talking to my Dad who asked him about the specs. Law said " If I make it as a pro, Mr.Boot (the then Huddersfield Manager) he'll buy me some contact lenses". I wonder if he ever got them.
