We were on top from the first minute to the last. For me, no one let the team down. McGeehan was excellent in midfield, but Mowatt was on a different planet to everyone else. Simply superb. Another clean sheet, too. I think Adam Davies only had one effort to save all game, a header from a corner just before half time. The defence was rock solid. Good to see Adam Hammill again and I was dead chuffed with the reception he received. All in all, I'm a very happy bunny tonight.
Just remembered another save from Adam at the end of the first half. But I still think the defence was rock solid today.
It's a joy to watch mate. There is nowt better than seeing your team confidently roll the ball about. From back to front, we are excellent at this level. Admittedly not every week, or not for all of every game, but in the main, it's good stuff. We played with a swagger today, and when we lost the ball we soon had it back. Considering Scunthorpe are well up the form league, there seemed a gulf in ability between us and them.
So do I when I get the opportunity. Barnsley are a wonderful Football Club to follow and support. With may I add great bunch of fans.
Some action shots taken from Scunny's website. https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2019/february/photos-barnsley-a2/
Wow, just read Stuart McCall s summing of the game...just wow! Sunny were very luck it wasn't 6 or 7.
Couldn't put it any better mate. You can only play what's in front of you, and in our last 2 home games we've dominated and well beaten 2 of the form teams in Scunny and Bradford. Could have scored a hatful in both games, but taking chances, missing chances, bit of luck, it's all part of being entertained and gives us plenty to natter about. We've got a hardworking, gifted and honest if not flawless bunch of players. There's a clear team ethic from the pitch to the dugout and I'm absolutely loving watching it. Although somehow I managed to pick Shrewsbury and Wycombe as 'must go to ' away matches.........
Wycombe and shrews won't be looking forward to the reverse fixtures mate. Lightening doesn't strike twice
Great result but I didn't think we were at our best today. Which is actually a compliment not a criticism
I wouldn't say he let the team down, but I thought Moore had a mixed game, terrible touch, missed passes, he did the chasing we require though.
I must admit it was a wonderful excursion yesterday; Mowatt's masterclass was a joy to behold, McGeehan continues to grow every game, Cavare looks an animal and although his decision making was better against Scunny than it was against Rochdale, I can only purr when contemplating what the finished product will be like. Jacob Brown continues to impress and reinforce my faith in our academy. I have seldom seen us so comfortable as evidenced by the somewhat muted celebration to Cam's goal. It's almost as though we expected nothing less. As others have quite rightly stated, when it all clicks, some poor team is going to be on the end of an absolute caning. As for Mowatt's goal; if you don't enter the lottery then you don't win a prize. Why we don't take more pot-shots in the winter sun is beyond me, as most of my WSL compadres will know by my screaming to have a pop most weeks. I was a keeper myself in my younger days and there is nothing worse than picking the ball out of the big orb in the sky. Am looking forward to the challenge that is the last third of the season.
